Why Don't Christian Louboutin Heels Come In Size 11?
I don’t read the Manolo blog, but I know it is Famous on the Internet. Therefore, you might be interested to know there is now a “Manolo for the Big Girl” spinoff blog.
The great thing about being the biggest gal in the room is that you can be the BIGGEST gal in the room: the fiercest, the most fabulous, the most confident. With a big attitude you can work looks that would overwhelm our slender sisters and make drag queens want to pull your hair from sheer glam envy. That being said, there is a fine line between looking divine and looking LIKE Divine, who while a heck of a broad, probably shouldn’t be your everyday sartorial role model.
If you find yourself wishing I talked about shoes more, this might be the blog for you!
(Found via my referral logs; thanks for the shout-out, Manolo people.)

Eeek! I get queasy thinking about how much it costs to buy a good pair of sneakers. This would be overload for me. I do most of my shopping at Goodwill.
haha- here is the most telling excerpt from this blog –
“…no good can come from a cheap shoe. Not only are they a false economy, but as big girls we put more pressure on our feet than our smaller sisters and owe it to our tootsies to take as good care of them as possible.”
Is it me or are the ad people at MB using the idea of size acceptance as a clever form of marketing by telling women – hey you ‘re a big girl, and there is no better way to express your pride than buy expensive shoes (and dont let the man tell you otherwise)??
um, its a little transparent. Or maybe i am a lot cynical.
Ho_cho, just because you have a teensy tendency toward cynicism doesn’t mean you’re wrong.
I’ve read more than one marketing study that said that one of the reasons why peripheral accessories — shoes, bags, hats, gloves — are such profit centers is precisely because the majority of the world is NOT a size zero (or, what’s apparently in Vogue these days, pun absolutely intended, size negative two *shudder*).
It will stop me from spending upwards of $400 on Blahniks or Via Spiga. It certainly WON’T stop me from buying the Ferragamos on sale at the outlet for 75% off — because then I’ll get good-looking shoes I can wear for another 7 years, get revenge on the marketers since I won’t have to shop again for another 7 years (literally, I see something I like that fits well, I buy as many as I can afford in as many colors as I look good in; then I don’t shop again until I wear them out), and know I got designer value at cost. Plus, JMHO, avoiding plantar fasciitis when/while one can.
Smirking all the way to the bank to put what I saved in Coach and Cole Haan stock. (My broker friends shorted the Hermes stock when they wouldn’t let Oprah in the store.)
Hey thanks for the shout-out right back! I adore your blog.
I gotta say, I feel Ho Cho about the cynicism, but since if we have ad people I haven’t met them, I can promise there’s no ulterior motive in my blog.
It was only after I suffered and healed from two broken feet that I discovered a better made shoe equals less foot pain for Miss Plumcake. Well made doesn’t mean expensive though. I am all over a clearance sale, and I *will* pull hair!
They do offer Louboutins in a size 11, I got a great pair of espys from neiman marcus on crazy sale ($155) but you have to be quick. We are fighting the drag queens!
They do come in size 11.
Jen, I think they come in a 42 UK? Which is supposedly size 11 but still a tiny bit too small for my feet. I need a 43 and I don’t think they come in 43. I could be wrong!
Manolo’s blog isn’t by THE Manolo…it’s almost a fan site that has caught on and is about shoes in general. If the Manolo of the fan site can bring his wit and style to this new blog, it’ll be pretty great.
FTR, I own several pairs of Manolos….all bought at TJ Maxx. ;-)
Try being a size 12. And wide. I wear men’s shoes almost exclusively.
I have 3 (4 if you count the duplicate) pair of heels. One is red with sparkles, another is a plain pair of painfully high black pumps that I’ve never worn and the other is also a pair of boots, also painfully high and that I also never wear.
I wish normal women’s shoes for a younger-type (I am NOT 40, I do NOT work in an office, I do NOT want to look like my super-overweight aunts who dress purely for comfort) came in at least a 12. Sometimes I can squeeze into those. Usually not but it makes me feel better to at least see them.
I would DIE for Louboutins in a 12w. I would cry if I even saw them.
Not really sure how I found this site but Diana I wear a 12W also and get compliments on my shoes all the time. Most I haven’t paid 50 bucks for. Try avenue’s cloudwalker line and Torrid. Both have cute shoes and websites you can order from if there aren’t stores in your area. Just thought I would help.
I know I feel that way completely! I love all these couture clothes and shoes and I finally have the money to get them but I can’t find them in my size! It’s so annoying! I want my red soles and I want my Burberry coat, I’m willing to pay the money, I would think that they would be willing to fill that market.
They do see them in size 11 but they are a Euro 42 just google size 42 and they are out here. Good luck
