Anatomy of a Tagline

May 9th, 2007

I was checking the referral logs this morning and I saw this forum post, which mentions Big Fat Deal. I couldn’t read it, though, since it appears to be in Polish. Curiosity overtook me and I ran the post through a translator. Not a very good translator, apparently.

blogi fotoblogi ( in English!) arguing, that wi?ksze amount too modne as well fair EX those blogów coterie on ropes onward, or else verily valuations! Drive-in-bank not puts yourselves with that, wherebyprzez co yourselves clothe, that wyglda? leanly rather affirmative homelike fluffily as well ex niej superciliously! It seems, that bycie sexiness is not potshots, yet when amount ex docket overdraw 40

All of this is merely to explain why one of our new taglines is “affirmative homelike fluffily.” Because, my friends, that’s what we’re all about. Does anyone speak Polish?

Please tell me you’ve added “affirmative homelike fluffily” to the rotation.

I have to say, I laughed hysterically when I read the translation. It is so bizarre! Anyway, I took a look at it and the post is really saying that this blog celebrates larger sizes as fashionable and beautiful. The person says that the blog is worth taking a look at. In the blog, the authors don’t concern themselves with advising women on how to look thin, but celebrate, and are proud of, their own size. The person says that it is obvious that being sexy is easy, even past a certain size.

And about the tagline, “affirmative homelike fluffily”, I think it refers to the word “puszystosc”. Literally, it means “fluffiness” but Polish people use it to mean chubby or plus-sized. :)

Thanks for the translation, Ursula! Oh my god, I love the Polish language. Fluffiness! That is so cute. “We’re not fat, we’re fluffy.” Another new tagline?
