Pretty Pears

June 5th, 2007

What to wear if you’re a pear. For all the pear-shaped hotties out there!

Always buy pants that fit your widest part, and be honest about what size that widest part needs; it’s possible that you’re wearing a plus size on the bottom, for example, but not on the top. Don’t get hung up on the number–focus on the fit. You can always cut the tag out when you get home, if the number really bothers you. But believe me, if you buy the wrong size pants, THAT will bother you more than any number will.

Shoutout!

I asked myself repeatedly how I felt about those pictures I had seen them a couple of weeks ago.. and I still am not sure.. those are mighty brave women doing something I would never feel comfortable doing… fat or thin.. However.. does this scream I am beautiful and accept myself the way I am.. and will people see that.. or does it scream Freak show.. like those children shreaking and laughing.. to think if those women where half the size they are now.. there would not have been a sound coming out of that vault.. and no one would have payed attention…

They have a great ‘shape calculator’ at IGIGI.
Just go to the myShape page…

My mom is pear-shaped, and I spent a good part of Saturday watching her try on clothes and trying to convince her to follow that last bit of advice: she needs to wear tailored tops, not tents designed to cover her ass. I should send her this link. Maybe hearing it from a third-party will convince her.

I’ve definitely got this. I can buy extra large tops, often but I’m in a size 24 pant. It’s a rather dramatic transition. What sucks the most about it is that often I cannot find pants that fit my waist as well as my hips and ass. The waist is always way too big.

I have always had to buy the larger pant size that fit my hips and butt but never my waist – very annoying! I either have to wear a belt, which often looks stupid and bunched up, or get the waist tapered in, which is a pain to do yourself and expensive to have done professionally.
