WAY more fun than a summer in fat camp

Go Ahead, Objectify Me

June 17th, 2007

If pornographic images offend you, read no further! Or at least don’t click the links. Need I say these are not safe for work? My friends, they are not.

I’m so used to seeing a certain image of the perfect porn girl (thin, big fake breasts) that it comes as something of a pleasant shock to run across slightly more unconventional imagery. Ruben Esq is a visual artist who does X-rated sketches of plus-sized women. It’s certainly a fetishizing of size, and certainly the large breasts (which, of course, not all fat chicks have) are a key component of the drawings. But there’s something charming about some of these drawings nevertheless. (And I only saw one where the fat naked girl was eating an ice cream cone.)

There are also sites dedicated to appreciating real women. That site is affiliated with something called Juggmaster (I think we can all extrapolate from that) but I liked this entry nevertheless.

OK, that’s a real assortment of women – some barely ‘chubettes’ and some much heavier, some professional models, a batch of amateurs, some clothed, some buck naked – but did you figure out what the common theme was? No? Self-confidence! Every one of those women looks secure in herself, confident, and comfortable in front of the camera. Self-confidence is the sexiest attribute a woman can have. Being chubby certainly helps though. Zero self-confidence is about as sexy to me as zero body fat: basically not at all.

Well I can’t argue with that. And I have to say that even though I’m not about to take off my clothes and pose for one of these sites, it’s nice to feel like someone’s ideal for a change.

I actually work in the porn industry and I see all shapes of women all day everyday, and the same with men actually! I’m a writer, not a model so don’t hate me lol.

But one of my good friends is a plus sized porn model who does softcore stuff and she can’t tell people what she does because people see her as fat and fat people shouldn’t do porn but you’d be very very very surprised at the amount of men that sign up to/want chubby, fat and even BBW women! Some of these sites do better than your typical porn star model sites…

That’s the bit I love abut my job, being around women of all shapes and sizes who aren’t afraid to show of their body and have a good time doing it.

A lot of BBW porn is actually very much female authored. There is a lot of diversity to it, but from my observation the majority of models are doing relatively softcore, cheesecake shots type stuff. Some can make money without even doing nudity. I have a friend who does some nude softcore and she has a lot of women who appreciate her pictures, not as sexual stimulation but for encouraging their own self-confidence. Indeed, it was women before her that got my friend into doing it. I think as the marketplace expands, we’re actually seeing more BBW porn which mimics “conventional” porn and I find that disappointing. I’ll admit that as an FA, I am most moved my images which seem specifically tailored to a fat appreciating market. There is a whole visual vocabulary to fat porn that has no analogue in conventional porn. I hope that doesn’t get lost should the field become more “organized”. At its best, I think its very woman affirming which, let me tell you, is absolutely something that can appeal to a man. I wouldn’t want to see that female authorship and unique vocabulary lost.

BStu, I would be interested to hear what the “visual vocabulary” is. Not having any experience with fat porn in particular, I have absolutely no idea. But I’m intrigued. If it’s too NSFW to post, feel free to drop me a line!

Basically, there is a language of poses with fat models that rather than simply replicate the poses of models in Playboy with a fat woman, are actually poses designed with a fat body in mind. Indeed, the purpose becomes enhancing and emphasizing the fat. Instead of treating the fat body as incidental, this perspective recognizes that the audience for BBW porn rather than being hesitant about fat are rather quite eager consumers for images that embrace the fat.

For instance, I’m not sure I’d regard any of the images on the “We Love Chubby Girls” page you linked to as fitting in this perspective. The fat was either incidental or actively obscured in those images. I’m actually familiar with “Juggmaster” as a provider of some of the most fat-afraid fat porn out there, so this doesn’t necessarily surprise me. Granted, there is a market for people interested in fat women because they assume that means bigger boobs, so they are probably just serving their audience by trying not to show anything that looks “fat”. Usually that means bellies, which actually is a big part of the visual vocabulary I refer to. There may be models known for their breasts or their ass in conventional porn, but belly models? That is something that exists in BBW porn and there had to be a whole new visual language to portray it because there was nothing like that in conventional pornography. It extends to other overt visual presentations of fatness, but I would imagine the belly models would be the most striking examples.

I looked at those sketches, and I have to say that all of them are beautiful and VERY sexy (even the one og the girl with the ice cream).

Sorry, that was supposed to say, “(even the one of the girl with the ice cream)”.
