For its June 2010 issue, French Marie Claire has gone curvy with editorials featuring plus-size models in lingerie and swimsuits à la française–that’s right, only bottoms, no tops!
Of course, these are all models, so “plus-size” is like a size 10. I personally took a counterbalancing stroll through some wonderful recent pieces at Adipositivity. Mostly NSFW. Except this one, which I love. And this one!
It made me want to take my own half-naked pictures, even if I wouldn’t necessarily post them on the Internet for the world to see. But there’s so much beauty in all types of bodies. It really is lovely to be reminded of that.

It’so true, some of us are so quick to forget that there are so many shapes sizes and colors in this world and all and yes are unique and beautiful in there own way and there will always always be people out there who appreciate and love them just as is. There is just to much variety in this world to narrow it down to one particular size, shape and color.
hmm. i’ve been thinking about weight this week because my son is here on his summer visit. he’s nearly 17.
he’s thin, slender, very athletic, and a bit hyperactive. i…am none of those things, but i am his mother. and sunday, when we were emptying the car after the road trip from hell? he told me “you just stand there and look beautiful, mom. you can do that without even trying.”
i nearly cried. an unsolicited compliment, from my son, saying “i love you as you are, i think you’re beautiful”. and his string of girlfriends? have all been on the side of “meat on the bones” rather than slender like he is. he likes who he likes, and to hell with societal standards. i’m so proud of the young man i could burst. :)
I highly recommend taking those pictures of yourself. I did it and it boosted my self-esteem which was taking a sharp turn in the wrong direction. They were just crappy phone pics but it was a nice reminder that my body is something to admire.

for the first time in my life with my last boyfriend I felt so sexy and gorgeous and he wanted to take some sexy pictures, and we did! and OMG! gorgeous. I recommend it. i mean, the picture part, not the posting them on the internets part or anything. just sayin.
Those models are gorgeous! Since I started getting into modeling, I have a new found appreciation of artistic nude shoots. They are so lovely. I used to be all like, “No, I won’t do nude!” But shots like these are very tasteful and classy, and I love them. It kinda makes me wish I hadn’t have turned down a few modeling offers.
Oh and I think you would look great if you took photos like that.
Is anyone watching America’s Got Talent? There was a burlesque dancer on the other night who rocked it and incidentally reminded me that the judge Piers is a huge fan of the curvy ladies! I forgot about last season he was gaga over this troupe of ladies dancing in all their plus size glory!

I looked at the photos, which are borderline exploitation! Besides, they are not plus-sized. I, who am a size 22/24(mostly a 24), and weigh 300 pounds, am plus-sized. The models look like average-size models.
