The Morning Show With Mike And Juliet
As I’m writing this, I’m getting ready to head over to the studio. So hello, people in the future! Did you see the show? What did you think? I’ll report back and let you know what the experience was like for me. (And to anyone who may be visiting after seeing the show, you may want to start here and here.) In case I don’t get to say it on the show, people of all shapes and sizes are welcome here. I think all of us, especially women, know what it’s like to feel pressured to live up to unrealistic ideals. Good health starts with self-esteem. So, hi! I hope you enjoy the site!

I thought you and Rachel did well in spite of typical Morning Show silliness (we’ll see what their husbands think! don’t eat white foods! And did they really need to get your stats?). How did you keep from shoving MeMeMeMeMe off her stool? It’s a tough crowd and a tough message to get out intelligently when you’re given 20 seconds at a time and I think it is a victory that the hosts felt the take away message was “It’s not black and white.” That’s something. Now I’m going to hang my head in shame for watching the Mike & Juliet Show.
You did a wonderful job! :) Thank you.
Oh, one more thing how come they didn’t ask meme how much she weighed and how tall she is? Oh I know, because she looks healthy. What a load.
YEAH! I am so happy that I caught you on the Morning Show on Fox today. Those “skinny” activist really got under my skin! I can’t believe some of the things that MeMe said…she should be smacked….LOL. The “fat movement” is new to me, but being a woman who has struggled with my weight for the better part of my life, and most of my adult life, I think that it’s great that there are women like you out there, promoting healthy lifestyles and equality for people bigger then a size 0! I am on a mission to be healthy again, and if weight loss is a side effect for making better food choices and participating in exercise, then I am all for it, but I have got to say that I 100% agree that a woman needs to be comfortable in her own skin, to love herself no matter what!
Hey! You and Rachel did a great job this morning. Congrats!
Since i don’t watch television (and was at work at the time anyways), i’m going mildly insane waiting for it to show up on youtube or the Mike and Juliet website.
I cannot WAIT to see it! :D
Yay! So glad things went well! I can’t wait to watch it (maybe MeMe will put it up on her YouTube?). I hope you’re having about 12 bloody marys right now, you’ve earned them!
You two ladies are teh awesome!! rabidRoth didn’t get to spew as much as she usually does, and that was kewlness indeed. That doctor is a fat-phobe, I don’t care how she words her advice, it’s teh crock. BTW, the doctor is an ob-gyn, so I doubt she knows a whole hell of a lot about nutrition, since she probably didn’t study it any more than she had to in med school.
I saw the show and think you and teh other woman did a wonderful job making your argument. The point is we should see people for whol they are , and not what they look like. And regardless of wiether is 115 or 200lbs beneath all thay flesh there is a soul at the core of it all. I have been a FA for quite sometime, and am marrying the woman I love who is a BBW I love her with all my heart. I am actually thinkin of gettin a tatoo kinda like the sillouhette in your logo. Just waned to say fantastic this morning.
on and your husband is a very lucky man.
Mo, you are so much braver than I’ll ever be, and you looked beautiful and you have great hair and a lovely voice, and everything you said was perfect. And I am so sorry you had to go through that and I hope it wasn’t as bad as it looked. (Someone will watch that show and see the light, especially after what you said about shame… but it was clearly set up to bully both of you.)
Sadly, I missed this Juliet and Mike show, or Mike and Juliet should I say? Anyway, you’re still my hero, mo.
I’m sorry I must have been on the wrong channel. I saw 3 hours of local news repeated 14 million times.
Great job! I only wish one of you had had the opportunity to refute the validity of BMI as a measure of health or fitness. Still glad that you were able to make the point about the arbitrary lowering of BMI standards in ’98. The doctor made some comment about health risks being the reason.
You’re both heroes and looked radiant on the show.
I hope when they asked about weight, etc. they said it was none of their damn business and that was the point.
I am suuuuper hoping someone YouTubes this, because I had a meeting early this morning—grr!!
I just watched the segment over at katehardingnet.
Awesome Job, Mo and Rachel! You looked great and you sounded so reasonable and right!
Now, when you were sitting next to MEmememe, did you feel fear and anxiety emanating from her? Because that’s what I feel whenever I see her, and I’ve only seen her on youtube!
Mo, GREAT JOB. Seriously, I just watched the YouTube clips and you and Rachel rocked this.
Mo, you TOTALLY ROCKED! I couldn’t have had the patience to sick next to MeMeeee without bitch-slapping her. :-)
Just posted this on shapely prose, but, geez, MeMe. Maybe you need to broaden your reading from the hysterical “fat kills!” pamphlets?
Because anytime you have to include a cut-to-the-male-approval-moment (they’re husbands are BEAMING! The fat women have happy husbands!) while discussing an issue, feminism isn’t “getting tied into it.” It’s already there. A critical feminist response is required, to my mind.
And what’s with the “Thin is In” causing an outcry. Thin has been in as long as I’ve been alive.
Still no goddamned outcry.
I watched it and agree that you did an excellent job. I was also put off that they seemed to focus on your stats and not Meme’s.
I liked the part where the hosts and the doctor there completely ignored you because you were self-absorbed wackos.
Excellent job! Nice long segments. You guys were articulate, poised and glowing!
