Here Comes The Pie
Just an administrative note: Since I’m getting married this weekend and am in the throes of last-minute wedding details and decisions and to-dos, this week I’ll be re-posting a few “BFD classic” entries from back in the day that you may have missed the first time around. (I’ve added some commentary to most of the posts, so it’s not entirely recycled material.)
I’ll may also post something new here and there, but no guarantees. I don’t want to have to leave a deserted and empty blog while I’m trying to focus on being a Bridezilla. So I hope you’ll enjoy a tiny little blast from the past this week, and hopefully it will stir up some of the usual great conversations here!
And to kick things off, I will promise I’m not getting liposuction for the wedding. That you know of.

Congrats!!! :D
Yes, congratulations.
I missed the original bridal liposuction post but here’s my take.
At first, I had difficulty understanding why somebody would worry about liposuction and such and pile it all over one single day in their life. I was talking about this with a friend of mine who as getting married, very informal wedding, (and mine was something of a cross between formal and informal), but all my worries were more on the order of “did I order enough food” “will my relatives get here in time” and other things. My friend, also a singer, put it in perspective. “We’re not worried about photos and the fabulous dress and such, because we’re stage performers. This won’t be the first (and possibly only) time we spend money to have a professional come and shoot us all day. This won’t be the first (and possibly only) time we are literally up on stage infront of 200 people or more. This woin’t be the only opportunity to shop for, and wear in public, a dress/outfit/costume that you normally wouldn’t wear to work or event he office party. This wont be the only time there’s a video camera pointing at us nonstop. This wo’t be the first time something emotional we’re doing will be done with tape rolling. We’re stage people, we’re professionals at being looked at, picked at, pointed at, photographed, commented on, etc. We have laid back weddings because we just want to freaking chill.”
She was right. A wedding is, for many people, the only time a professional photograhper is going to HANDLE them. Its is the one time the focus of the day will be about them. It is their Fifteen Minutes. It’s like the first time I strapped on a guitar and walked on stage. I wanted everything to be PERFECT. (and fortunately for my exploding ego, I bombed.). I wouldn’t go so far as liposuction, and admittedly, it just doesn’t cost as much to outfit a punk rock guitarist, but still. The outfit had to be perfect. The makeup had to be exact. And I was ready to fine my bass player and drummer if one note was wrong.
*Humming “I’m getting married in the morning”*
Congratulations!
Mopie, my absolute best wishes to you and your husband to be. Joy, Love and Laughter. All day.
