September 2007
This month’s blogroll is going to feature three blogs that have absolutely nothing to do with weight issues. Because don’t we all like to take a break sometimes? Here are three of my recent favorite blogs.
Booze Cruise is a site that does recaps of all the episodes of The Office. Really excellent, really insightful, and more interested in analyzing Steve Carell’s brilliance than in gushing about Jim and Pam. (I mean, we all love Jim and Pam, but too much emphasis on them, and you’re just another ‘shipper site.) With the new season about to start, it’s a good time to discover this site. I’m looking forward to new recaps this season!
Although the author of BSC Headquarters pdoesn’t use the word “dibble” nearly enough, her site is a total guilty pleasure. I was obsessed with the Baby-Sitters Club series for years. I still have all my books and if they weren’t in storage, I would probably still be reading them. For those of you who grew up with the BSC, revisiting these books (and mocking them) is an absolute blast.
Finally, another site I check in with daily is the Blind Item Rehash. (I’m celebrity gossip obsessed.) The design is totally Web 1.0, but it does the job. It reprints blind items from all over the Web and provides best guesses as to the answers (and sometimes provides evidence for these guesses). It’s how I know Raven Symone is a bitch and Merv Griffin was gay. Allegedly.

In addition to Notes from the Fatosphere, this month I recommend Health at Every Size by Dr. Peggy Elam. Just glancing at the sidebar should give you an idea of the scope of this project; there’s even an associated podcast! And Dr. Elam’s analysis of the “obesity is contagious” reportage is not to be missed. Enjoy.

Thanks to fatfu, I can just point you to this awesome, awesome Fatosphere feed. More information about it (and other ways to access it) here.
May 2007
Kate Harding: Gorgeous design, smart writing, delightful blog. Found, as ever, via my obsessive stalking of my own referral logs.
The Rotund: Provocative, thoughtful, brave, awesome. Each post is like a mini-essay. Frequent commenter! Hooray!
Fatshionista: The Livejournal community where fat girls go to feel pretty, and celebrate their beauty.

Back in Skinny Jeans: I don’t remember how I stumbled across this blog, probably on Technorati, where it enjoys an incredibly high ranking. It’s easy to see why: well written, frequently updated, broad focus, with lots of pretty pictures. One of my favorite regular features is Stephanie’s frequent commentary on magazine covers. Good stuff.
The F-Word: I found this blog via my referral logs, which always makes me feel warm and happy inside. It’s got a clean, classic design, and it’s posts about fat and feminism are extraordinarily smart and well-written. I don’t always agree with everything Rachel has to say, but her posts are almost always thought-provoking. A must-read.
Too Fat For Fashion: Another gem from the referral logs, and a great site for fashionistas, fashion wannabes, and fans of Project Runway. Provocative and substantive posts on, for instance, Vogue’s stance on skinny models along with product reviews and fashion commentary that can appeal to people of all shapes and sizes.
