Your Favorite Jeans? Giveaway!
I live in jeans, basically. I wear them all the time–with a T-shirt to hang out around the house, with a blazer or nice top to teach in, under sweater dresses–all the time. So as you can imagine, I have Opinions about various brands of plus-size jeans. Allow me to take you on my journey, won’t you? At the end, there are prizes!
TORRID
For a long time, my favorite pair of jeans was a pair of l.e.i. flare-leg jeans from Torrid, extra-long inseam, because I am tall. So what do they do? Right when I’m about to go and order ten million pairs? THEY DISCONTINUE THEM. Heart: broken. Torrid has a lot of jeans, and I’ve had some hits and misses from them. The big downside is that they’re pretty spendy, and I don’t have a Torrid near me, so it’s that online buy-and-send-back thing. Annoying when jeans range anywhere from $50-$90. (I see they’ve added $200 Ed Hardy jeans. Hmm, had no idea they were doing plus sizes. I wonder…)
LANE BRYANT
Lane Bryant has the Right Fit jeans, in a variety of shapes and styles, which have worked out for a lot of people, but not really for me. They’re okay, and I have a couple of pairs, but one wash fits really differently from the other. Not only that, I was told time and time again to buy them tight because they’d stretch, but I bought them tight and then they never did stretch, and they dig into my waist kind of uncomfortably because of the curvy cut that I need.
OLD NAVY AND TARGET
I’ve also bought jeans from Old Navy, which 1. is hit and miss anyway, and 2. pulled plus sizes out of their stores, which annoyed me, and 3. once sent me a pair of jeans with creepy mesh pockets, which, why? And also, so creepy. The largest sizes of their “regular” jeans sometimes fit and sometimes don’t, and those are decent jeans, but their “plus” jeans have been uniformly awful, when I’ve tried them. So, no. The other brand I’ve tried is of course my beloved Target. I have two pairs of jeans from them, one is a little “mom jeans” for my liking (but comfortable) and one has a very cool wash, but no stretch in the denim, and isn’t very comfortable. All of which leads me to…
LEE JEANS
Lee contacted me a while back and offered to send me some of their new plus-sized jeans, with the DEEPLY UNFORTUNATE NAME of “slender secret stretch.” I think it is this pair, actually. As a fan of free clothes, I said HELL YES. And you guys, horrible name notwithstanding? I seriously love these jeans. They are a little stretchy and comfortable, without being creepy. They are delightfully curve-hugging. They come in long, regular, and petite. If they sucked, I would tell you (see above). But they do not, they do not suck!
GIVEAWAY
Lee Jeans, as you may have surmised, is giving me jeans to give away. TEN PAIRS, to be exact! All you have to do to enter is leave a comment describing your favorite pair of jeans. I’ll choose winners at random, and e-mail you to get your size (they go up to 30W). Deadline is Friday!

I fell in love with Lane Bryant’s Right Fit jeans last year on literally the same day as I found Fat Acceptance. They really work for me. They hug my curves, they come in flare jeans (something that must be going out of fashion because they’re hard to find), and they come in a dark wash that I absolutely love. When I put them on, they feel like a second skin. I just love the way they hug my curves and the silhouette they give me. They’re just super comfy for me!
My favorite pair of jeans of all time was a Z. Carravacci pair that I got when I was younger. They were a darkish-gray blue wash and they had this seam going straight down the front that I thought was so cool! If I were to wear them now, they probably wouldn’t be as neat, but I used to get compliments on them all the time! I also had a fabulous pair of pinstripe jeans that I haven’t been able to find again since I wore them to death a few years ago. I think those were from LB as well.
My favorite jeans are a pair of Target denim capris. They fit just right, hugging in all the right places and still super comfortable.
My favorite pair of jeans are from Miss Etam (http://www.missetam.nl/) a store in the Netherlands which has a *fantastic* plus-size department (it’s fully half of their store). I only *wish* they would come to the US. The jeans themselves are a dark wash. Very, very dark. With light stitching. Stretchy. And I love them.
My most well-worn pair of jeans is from Old Navy and my second fav pair are a vintage style high waist number that totally camouflages my poochy tummy bulge – they are from Vivien of Holloway in England.
My favorite jeans at present are a pair of Svobodas… but I only like them within a window of a few hours. In addition to being vanity-sized out the wazz, Svobodas stretch abominably throughout the day. So my 18s fit perfectly when I put them on, but are literally falling off my body by noon. And my 16s look ridiculous when I put them on, but after a few hours they’re perfect. I hate Svobodas and will never buy any ever again, but when they’re great they’re great.
My favorite jeans are from a brand with a hokey name: “Not Your Daughter’s Jeans.” They’re a dark wash capri jean with pre-stitched cuffs that make me feel a little rockabilly.
They’re normally pretty pricey, around $100 a pair, but they go on sale at Nordstrom’s and Amazon.com’s websites a couple times a year each.
I have a great pair of Torrid boot cut jeans that I love, love, love. It’s hard to admit, but I do have a pair of Faded Glory jeans from Wal-Mart that I just can’t bear to part with, even with the holes and tattered hem. I love them both because the waist is slightly lower than my natural waist (so no binding when I sit), but not too low, no muffin top, and great fit / stretch around my ass and thighs.
My favorite jeans are a pair I found a couple of months ago at Macy’s made by Levi’s. They have a fuller waist but are still petite in all other areas and the fit is awesome! They are already super soft. I picked them up on sale for around $28 bucks.
My favorite jeans of the moment are Hydraulic brand from Macys woman. I’ve had several pairs, and right now i have 2…. but one is basically dead, (meaning the fabric in the thighs has ripped) and the other is sadly on the verge. Well as i went to the store to stock up on more… they seem to have removed these ones and only selling Hydraulic skinny fit! What the heck, i am NOT down with the skinny fit! So, then this last week i went back to check, hopeful again – not really sure what im going to do, and they have flare leg again, BUt they are in awful washes with lots of wiskering and rips. Very junior-esque. UGh!! So depressed. I will have to try these lee jeans…….. i cannot lose hope!
Anyone know where else you can get Hydraulic brand jeans?! They are such a strange brand I havent been able to find plus anywhere on the internet.
I tried the Lane Bryant jeans but they were a disaster – I have a tiny waist and a giant ass, and while they account for that, I don’t think they had me in mind. But I found some amazing jeans from Nine West that I wear every single day – they’re called Bleecker boot cut, and they come in short and long, although unfortunately not in plus sizes. (I’m at the upper end of straight sizes, at a 14/16.) That’s too bad, because they are real winners. I tried to find a decent picture but they look like hell on all the models, which is perhaps why they look so great on me. (http://www.amazon.com/Nine-West-Jeans-Womens-Bleecker/dp/B001PKU2PC)
Argh, I suck, sorry. Take the last end bracket out of the above address for it to work: http://www.amazon.com/Nine-West-Jeans-Womens-Bleecker/dp/B001PKU2PC
I once tried on a pair of Lucky jeans that fit like a glove but were ultimately too spendy. I like to think that if I had bought them, they would have been my favourite jeans.
Can I list my favorite jeans as “yet to be discovered”? I have trouble with the Right Fit from Lane Bryant, too – the blue is a little too curvy and the red not quite enough. Different washes have radically different fits. Some have no stretch and others have so much that a pair that fit me when I left home – 3 hours later, after a long dinner – FELL OFF OF ME when I stood up from the restaurant table.
Old Navy will usually do, but lots of minor issues from cut to cut or color to color.
I haven’t tried too many other stores – but I am going to check out all of those mentioned above as soon as my budget allows!
JAG jeans, all the way. They’re from Nordstroms, and are half the price of Not Your Daughters (which I actually tried and didn’t work for me). These JAG jeans are fantastic, softest denim ever, curvy, stretchy but hold their shape. Last night I tore a seam on some kitchen drawer hardware. Totally panicked because they’re my favorite, and then spent the evening lovingly repairing them with my mother in law and her sewing machine.
I have to say, the Lane Bryant Right Fit jeans are perfect for me. After spending years searching for jeans by someone who actually cared that my waist is 12 inches smaller than my hips, Lane Bryant finally got it!
As for fit, my experience has been, they fit perfectly in the store, stretch a bit during wear, and then shrink like mad in the wash – even though I never dry them in the drier. Whenever I put on a freshly washed pair, I have to do some squats and bounce around a bunch to get them loose enough to not be a bit obscene.
Still, the waist fits!
I really like pretty much all of the seven brand jeans that I have. They fit really well.
My favorite jeans are a long-lost pair I bought at TJ Maxx. I found this pair of jeans that fit perfectly and that were likely left on the rack in clearance for $9.99 because they came with a god-awful hot pink patent leather belt with a butterfly buckle.
I ditched the belt and wore the jeans literally to DEATH. The best part about them was that when I bought them I was about a size 18, and when I finally had to chuck them bc of the massive holes I’d worn through them in the crotch, I was about a size 22, but the jeans still fit. It was wierd, but after gaining 30-40 pounds, I still slid them on every day. They grew with me!
I miss those jeans.
The perfect pair of jeans looks good on your body and makes you feel great about your body every time you put them on. They truly look good with anything, almost anywhere.
Well, the search for wonderful jeans is always a long one.
For the longest time a pair of Limited jeans were my FAVORITE, but were discontinued.
Right now, Ann Taylor jeans are my favorite, but even in the same cut, the fit isn’t consistent. However, they are one of the only places I’ve consistently found larger-sized trouser cut jeans… which I can get away with wearing to work.
Those Lee Jeans DO look nice though. I’ll have to try them out. It is GREAT that they offer petite — I ride the line of “regular” size and “plus” size, and plus sized jeans tend to be too long for me, even though I can usually wear a regular length in regular sizes (except the Gap and Old Navy, the land of the Amazonian tall woman).
I have a pair of Lane Bryant Seven7 jeans from years ago that I really love. They are slightly washed out, but do not have those crazy whiskers or any other bleached effects.
My all-time favoritest jeans ever was a pair of Levi Plus (style 557, I think) that were the perfect shade of dark blue with straight legs and absolutely amazing. I wore them out, completely. Although the thigh fabric never really thinned. I wish they still made that style.
Oh my gosh! The very first response described the last pair of jeans that I really, really loved: “My favorite pair of jeans of all time was a Z. Carravacci pair that I got when I was younger. They were a darkish-gray blue wash and they had this seam going straight down the front that I thought was so cool! If I were to wear them now, they probably wouldn’t be as neat, but I used to get compliments on them all the time!” So. True. I have been buying from torrid as of late, but have found that the variations in sizing for different brands etc. can be depressing (okay, that’s not really news).
I, for one, have found that the black Riders jeans I tried on fit amazingly well. They are the newest Riders jeans – with the “secret smoothing technology” or whatever, but gosh, they’re amazing, and the black wash is so nice that I can even wear them to my anti-jeans workplace. I have worn tons of jeans over the years – but most of my favorites have been discontinued or I am out of the size range for them now, so I’m rediscovering jeans.
I have a pair of Dickies dark wash flares that I bought at Torrid almost three years ago, and they are definitely my favorites at the moment. The only problem with them is that after the first day of wearing, they start to sit very, very low on me–to the point of nearly giving me plumber’s crack. Not cool. So I try to make sure I always wear them with a cami or something else I can tuck in to protect my back flesh.
My favorite jeans are the petite plus jeans from Talbots.
The LB Red right fit jeans fit “perfectly”, until they would stretch out during the day….Talbots jeans don’t do that, more cotton, less spandex I guess.
They are never too wide or too narrow at the bottom, and always come in good wash options. I have their bootcut jeans in premium indigo wash, the “flare” leg jeans in premium indigo wash, their trouser jeans in black and a pair of straight leg in dark royal.
I like them because they fit well, are comfortable, and come in nice-look washes.
My current favorite pairs are both the sweetheart style in straight leg from Old Navy. I had previously sworn off Old Navy jeans, but these ones are pretty great – especially for someone like me who seems to fluctuate sizes at least once a year. I’ll take a pair of 30 dollar jeans over a pair for 100 bucks any day of the week!
Sadly, I don’t have a favorite pair of jeans! I have two tolerable pairs – one from Old Navy and one from Fashion Bug. Lane Bryant’s Right Fits never worked for me, Fashion Bug’s are better, but not perfect. As for Old Navy – all of the cool looking washes are in low cut jeans – and I can’t do low cut. I would love a pair of these Lee jeans just to see if I can finally find a pair to love! <3
GAP used to make a line of jeans called “Long & Lean” that were perfect. However, they discontinued them in favor of something called “1969,” which is much cheaper, thinner fabric and doesn’t wear as well. I’ve been buying up the old jeans in my size on eBay, but someday, I’m going to run out.
My favorite pair is from Gap, and somewhat unbelievably, I bought them in high school (I am now 25). They have held up well although there is a significant chunk of time they were too small so it’s not like they have had 7 years of consistent wear. They are straight leg with a zig zag on the butt :) I love them.
My favorite pair of jeans is currently a very dark wash Right Fit from Lane Bryant in yellow, since I’m built like a rectangle and have no waist definition. In fact, yesterday my husband and I had a discussion on where my waist is (he’s a major fan of the super low rise jeans but it’s terribly unflattering on me since I have a big tummy). But I digress…I hated the jeans at first because I bought them small (as mentioned above by one of the other commenters) and they had a horrible smell to them, as a side effect of the dye. But it went away after a few wearings/washings. I do have to stretch them out a bit after they have been washed by doing some strange contortion-type moves, but they look and fit great. Reminds me, I need a new pair!!
My current favorites are 2 pairs of New York & Co. jeans I found at a resale shop, one in a medium-light wash and one in a medium-dark wash. I think one pair is straight-leg and the other is flare, but they’re not labeled as such; I’m just guessing. I was also a fan of a pair of Not Your Daughter’s Jeans until constant “chub rub” created substantial holes that forced their retirement. Sigh.
Hrm – I’m curious about the ‘hidden elastic’ – that always seems like code for ‘hideous mom jean elastic, covered with a belt.’ I trust you, though, and the pictures don’t have the telltale elastic gathering, so I’m optimistic!
Right now, I’m liking the blue Right Fit jeans, but my favorite pair was probably some button fly hemp jeans from Two Star Dog. Had to get ‘em hemmed, but those things were indestructable! Only went up to a 40 waist, so I grew out of them, and I don’t think they make them any more, but those were awesome.
My favorite jeans of all time are a pair of Bill Blass sort of trouser-cut jeans that I got at Ross for about $12 almost ten years ago. They haven’t fit me for the last several years, but when they did fit, they were so perfect. The length worked without hemming, they were a medium weight without stretch and they made my ass and my legs look terrific. They are currently in my closet waiting for me to lose about 25 pounds, but I swear, even though I have given up a million pairs of jeans when they stopped fitting, that I will never get rid of those jeans.
My favorite current pair of jeans are also trouser cut, dark rinse, with cute pintuck detailing on the back pockets, from Old Navy. $15 on clearance. I wore them constantly until I had to switch to maternity pants earlier this year.
My favorite all-time pair of jeans was from the Silver label. I’m sure Silver still exists, but this pair of mine I purchased at a local boutique that’s closed now. I do NOT generally buy jeans unless I’m able to try them on (or if i’ve had a pair before that I know fit – THEN i’ll order them online), so while the Silver jeans fit like a dream – no gap in back, no sagging (!) – they represent to me the sad fact that the only local boutique that catered to larger sizes is gone from my fashion landscape :( The silver jeans, though, are still in my weekly rotation. Not for long though – they’re wearing thin in some places and soon I will have to go looking for a new pair, or find somewhere online to get the same ones.
Thus, I’d love to try the Lee jeans! This contest comes at just the right time for me!
I actually also love the Lane Bryant Right Fit. For years I bought their normal jeans, and they worked well enough, but I always had that problem where the ones that went over my hips ok wound up with a huge gap at the waist (and I DESPISE wearing belts).
When they first started selling the Right Fits, I walked in, talked to a saleslady, was told “go pick up Red 3 petite” and voila – PERFECT fit in every dimension. Awesome.
Agree with you about the different washes though – and that’s pretty annoying. I wear a totally different size in black jeans than in regular denim, which seems just bizarre!
I’ve tried every brand under the sun, too. And I’m still looking for the best fit. My current favs are a pair of dark wash just-stretchy-enough Angels that I bought at–guess where–Simply Fashions four years ago. They are almost worn completely out so I need a new pair ASAP. Size 20 please.
Put another point in the column for the Lane Bryant jeans. The moment that I tried on a pair, I realized I’d found my jeans nirvana (although you’re right about the different washes fitting differently; I have different sizes of the super dark and the regular pairs). The only bad thing is that between the number and the shape, I have a hard time remembering my size, so I need to actually physically go to a store to try them on.
That said, I’d also love to try the Lee jeans. There’s always room for improvement, right…
I’ve been on a mad hunt for the perfect jeans for, well, forever. I’ve worn Lane Bryant jeans but they don’t fit my legs as well as they fit my waist, sadly. I’ve also tried Lee but a different style which were not flattering on my butt. I’d love to try the slender secret stretch even if the name makes me giggle. :-)
My favorite pair of jeans are but a memory now, shrouded in the mists of my memory. I remember that they fit perfectly and were ridiculously comfortable. I wore them until my thigh chub rub literally wore the fabric down to a few bare strands, then kept wearing them around the house until enough of my thighs were exposed and rubbing to cause soreness.
I actually saw those unfortunately named Lee jeans in the store the other day and deliberately refrained from trying them on out of pique. (I’d also already found some that worked.) If I go back any time soon perhaps I’ll have to give them a try…unless I win some!
I’m loving the Target ones I happen to be wearing right now. Could really use some new ones, though. Would LOVE to try Lee for Free :-)
My old favorite pair of jeans was from Old Navy. They were one of like 20 styles that Old Navy named “boyfriend fit” and they fit perfectly. One day I tried to slide a take out menu in my back pocket and the pocket ripped clean off, exposing my Superman underwear to the world. So I never buy jeans at Old Navy anymore.
My new favorite pair is from Target. They are Mossimo brand and they stretch perfectly. I got them on clearance for like $3.99 and I should have bought ten pairs as soon as I found them because I have never seen another pair since.
Like others, I’ve yet to find my perfect pair of jeans. Lane Bryant’s gap horribly at the back yet are too tight on my thighs, and Old Navy’s fit well but look sloppy. I would love to find a pair of properly-fitting jeans – maybe these Lee’s will be the answer?
I currently don’t have any favourite jeans, on account of not owning a single bloody pair that actually fit me. Half a dozen that my hips have, er, outpaced, and two that fall off if I walk in them and I am never buying jeans online again, or at least not from Target. I used to have a few awesome pairs, but my body decided it wasn’t done with the curves yet and I stopped being able to get my butt into them.
My favourite pair I’ve ever had were a pair that has been my mum’s in college. Big loose wide legs, kind of lavender denim sewn all over to make raised lines running in a pattern of squares. Wore them till they fell apart.
I’d love having some jeans that actually fit!
My favorite pair of jeans is from Lands’ End. The Lands’ End Inlet that is vaguely near me (about 20 miles away) gets all the returned “custom fit” jeans, which means I can often find jeans that have been tailored to fit the short and curvy but might have some minor flaw. For example, my favorite pair has a stitching flaw in the detailing on a pocket and a scuff on the thigh, but it’s hardly noticeable unless you look for it. Anyways, I get them for under $15 a pair from the clearance rack, but it’s very hit and miss as to whether there’s a pair in my size there on any given day. Also, LE jeans tend to be mom jeans.
I tried to love LB’s right fit jeans, but I had the same problem that mo pie mentions: they tell you to buy them tight because of the stretch, but then they never actually stretch…and a size bigger gapes just as bad as “noncurvy” jeans. I’ve also tried different LB shapes, even though I’m very definitely a figure-eight, and it just doesn’t work. Also, the flare doesn’t fit me at all, and the dark wash jeans fit differently than the light wash.
I recently bought some shorts at Torrid by Origins of Wisdom, and they’re comfy, but the waist gaps terribly, so I’m constantly pulling them up (I hate belts). Also, the sizing is inconsistent between washes. I have two pairs, one in a light wash and one in a dark wash. The dark wash are tighter than the light wash. They feel like they’re a half size too small.
So, I’m hoping that I win the Lee jeans so I can give them a try! :)
I won a free pair of custom jeans from Thimbler.com and ordered them last week. I am hoping these will be my new favorite.
I miss the Lane Bryant Flare Leg jeans, (pre right fit) I loved those jeans. The rise on the Right fits just comes up SO HIGH on me, no me likey.
Free Jeans! Yes! Love this. I’d like to try these out for sure.
As to favorite jeans… I am really liking the pair I got at the LB. I think they are right fit red. They are trouser jeans, I think — cut more like pants. I think they look great.
I’ve had good luck with Right Size from Lane Bryant. I tried the curvy fit when my size 16 Levi’s no longer fit (those were formerly my favorites). The right size actually fit comfortably on my waist and hips and were also the correct length – I am petite and never find jeans short enough. I’ve had 3 pairs for almost the past year and they have held up very well through many washings.
I miss my old Levis from years ago, they were a nice dark wash bootcut. Unfortunately as I got older my shape changed and I can’t find any styles by them that fit quite right anymore, so I am back to Old Navy, where every pair is different!
My favorite pair of jeans of all time were a pair of LB jeans from a bazillion years ago, I wore them until they literally fell apart. My current favorite pair are from Silhouettes that I bought with a gc someone gave me. They’re a little stretchy, but not in an obnoxious way. They’re a little big in the waist, but I have a belt I love and otherwise, they fit great. I have a pair of non-stretch in the same size and they’re tight out of the wash and then after a few hours, they get baggy in weird places.
I live in jeans! My current favorites are from Lane Bryant when they first started selling their Right Fit jeans. Low-rise flares, they’re the first jeans that weren’t too short, or too big in the butt and hips.
I used to have a pair of boot cut hip huggers by Paris Blues that were the best jeans ever. I still needed a belt, I always need a belt, but overall they fit so great. I had two pair that I wore until a friend of mine told me I was no longer allowed to patch them, I needed to let go. Now, of course, Paris Blues only makes plus size jeans in skinny cut, which is rediculous.
I have the big butt/ small waist that others have mentioned, but I also have a super long torso, which means “curvy” cut jeans cut in way too low so I just end up with a nasty muffin top and regular jeans always gap at the waist.
I haven’t had luck with LB jeans, the curvy cut seems to be made for girls with wide hips, not a big booty or something, and the rise is a bit high for me. I like the waist to hit about an inch below my belly button. As some of the others mentioned, I straddle the reg size/ plus size divide so it seems nothing ever fits “quite” right. Right now I’m just wearing Old Navy jeans, which fit fine but don’t really flatter in the way good jeans should. I’m training for a 5k, though, and so my body has been changing a lot, especially my lower half, and I refuse to spend more than $19 on jeans until things settle down and I have a better idea of where my body will want to be.
My favorite pair of jeans is by Lee – One True Fit. They are my skinny jeans though. I keep them around to try on every once in a while and give me a boost — not because I’m obsessed with the size, but because they make me look awesome. Lots of stretch and they’re the PERFECT length for my slightly-longer-than-petite legs. I’m 5′3″ with a 29.5″ inseam, so it’s difficult to find something that works with my proportions.
Right now I’m actually digging the jeans at Avenue. Their Divine Denim line is so stretchy it feels like I’m wearing yoga pants, and they come in three lengths! Their petite length is slightly longer than other brands, so it fits me perfectly.
Thanks for offering the giveaway!
Oh, and also, mo, if you’re still in the East Bay there is a brick and mortar Torrid in Pleasant Hill at Sun Valley Mall and one out in Pleasanton as well, I think. I know it’s a bit out of your way, but if you’re headed out that way anyhow for some reason, you know?
Also, you don’t want Ed Hardy jeans, even if they fit like jeans only from heaven fit. They all have “Ed Hardy” in big, neon pink script all the way across the butt. It is the tackiest thing ever.
uuuugh… add me to the “yet to be discovered” category. I definitely am victim of the fat-people-vary-a-lot-more-in-shape-than-skinny phenomenon: I’m a size 24, and I have really thick legs, a narrowish waist, no butt, and a short rise despite being not too short (5′5″). Jeans that work for me are clearly jeans that don’t work for anyone else and therefore get discontinued, so I end up living with sub-optimal jeans in between moments of finding that one amazing pair… I have a pair of Lane Bryant’s Secret Slimmer (ugh) jeans that fit pretty well. I often buy men’s jeans because you can adjust more factors – old navy Loose fit with a 29″ inseam works pretty well for me, but isn’t great – rise is too long.
I go back and forth between wanting jeans that fit and baggy comfortable jeans.
Right now, I really like a couple of pairs of the Lee jeans, I’m not sure what their exact name is, they have this non-gathered elastic all the way around the waist band which makes them not gap in the back. And they stretch out to a nice fit pretty quickly after they come out of the wash.
Sadly, I have no favorite jeans. I found a pair at a Goodwill some time ago (don’t know the brand) and they served me well for a long time, until I dropped a few pounds and now they are baggy and uncomfortable. I bought some Target jeans that fit well, but they are a little scratchy — they stretch, but there’s enough stretchy stuff in them that they don’t feel like denim when I wear them.
So I could really use those jeans!
My favorite are probably just basic dark flare lane bryant jeans. I have 5 pairs of them I like them so much! I’m always looking for new jeans because most jeans don’t fit well because they are too tight in the waist and fit in the thighs or the other way around. I got really excited when I saw the right fit but I had mixed results with the sizing and how they fit. I really really love trouser jeans (which I’m now looking for a new pair) because I get to wear jeans to work and I think they look a little more together than other jeans. Sometimes I feel too casual in other jeans and trouser make me feel more snazzy!
My favorite pair of jeans are Lee Comfort Fit Straight Leg. My first pair, that I literally wore to pieces, had the unfortunate TM of “Instantly Slims You” and I picked them up at a Bealls Outlet but the most recent pair I bought at Kohl’s seems to have dropped that bit. They’re mid-rise and I love the way they fit, and don’t gap at the back (I have that big hip::waist ratio)
My favorite pair of jeans is from Land’s End. All of my favorite clothing is from Land’s End. I am always willing to try something new, however.
I hate jeans with stretch–I need some structure in my pants to hide *ahem* lumpiness. So when LB went to the Right Fit jeans, I was screwed–they all have stretch.
I was buying Old Navy jeans online for a while, and that was okay because basically, I would buy all of the jeans in my size, and then return all of the ones that didn’t fit (all but maybe one or two) to the store. But then they took away in-store returns for Plus Size clothes. And then they took away free return shipping. So Old Navy doesn’t get my pants money anymore. (I still buy sweaters and camis there, what can I say, I’m cheap).
My latest pair of jeans is the Macy’s in-store brand Style & Co. They fit well, not too stretchy, and I caught an amazing end-of-summer sale, so they were like, $12. They’re normally about $50, which is a bit more than I’d like to pay, but if that’s my only option, it’s worth it.
I have these black Levis that fit ’slim cut’ and just right, with white stitching all down the sides and at the pockets. I love to wear them biking because the lines are so cool I fancy they make patterns as I pedal, and they taper at the bottom so they don’t catch in my chain.
They’re a little worn and definitely a little faded, but you can’t have’em until you pull them out of my cold, dead hands.
dickies dark wash from torrid! hacked off at the ankle and hemmed dubiously with double-strength thread (it’s really more like fishing line). ankle-crop, you say? with chunky black flats? stacy and clinton would definitely not approve… i don’t think they appreciate the fabulousness of geeky chic.
My favorite jeans currently are American Rag brand, which is a junior’s brand from Macy’s, and they are somehow a size 13, and I somehow still fit into them after gaining about 20 lbs — and comfortably. They’re trouser cut, and the denim is very light, and I feel classy and sexy.
(I recently got a pair of jeans from Torrid via Gabriel Brothers that woouuuuld be my new favorites, except they are about an inch too short for me to really be comfortable in, because I am so used to my pants being too long that I really can’t handle it when they’re the right length.) But I am always looking for new jeans that don’t suck.
I had a fat, lady esthetician once recommend Seven jeans as the best plus-size jeans, and I kinda think she’s right. They’re a bit spendy, so I keep an eye out for sales at Maurices.
Oops! I said “Seven” when I meant “Silver”!!
Rats!
@Danielle – Maurices.com has Silver jeans up to size 24.
My favorite jeans are a pair of Truck black skinny jeans I got from Alloy. They are extra long, which is great since I’m also super tall. I feel so great in these jeans. The only problem is that they tend to stretch as the day goes on. By the end of the day, I have to hike them up every time I get up. I wish I could find a pair of trouser cut or boot leg jeans I love as much.
For me, the Lane Bryant Right Fit Red petite have been perfect since they came out. They do stretch a bit, but I prefer that. As I’ve gone up and now down in size, I can consistently rely on them. Their other right fit trousers – I can’t do, but the red petite always works for me.
Wow, this thread is awesome, lots of great tips on jeans. And I also learned there’s a fabulous plus-size store in the Netherlands! Where I am going next summer for my sister’s wedding! Jackie, I love you for that tip!
I had a great pair of Ruff Hewn jeans when I was younger that I just loved. Then I found some Lee jeans that I loved and were a bit more to my price range. 10 yrs ago I developed DVT and due to that I have to wear a compression stocking on one of my legs. That is fine I just haven’t found a jean that I like . I guess you could say that I gave up a few yrs ago of really looking for the perfect pair.
i have like 4 pairs of the Lane Bryant jeans in blue 7 tall. LOVE THEM. they are so long i actually step on them (and i am 6foot 2 and shortwaisted to boot)
I have a wonderful pair of jeans I got from Pennington’s a year or so ago. They’re lighter wash, fairly large flare, but the line of the side hangs just right and they’re so comfy!
My favorite jeans are (rather unfortuately) a pair of stretch elastic Wal-mart boot-cut jeans! I was in a pinch and NEEDED a pair of jeans, I was out of state and the selection was crappy for my size at wal-mart, so I picked up the only pair that was my size. I put them on and.. Wow! They looked pretty hot! If I could make sure nobody would see the embarrassing elastic, nobody would even know. Love them!
I own ONE pair of jeans. After trying on about a hundred pairs, literally, I thought I would never find a pair that was actually comfortable. Other people had jeans they loved and they looked great in, but not moi. Just as the pity party was getting really too much, I found THE PAIR at Target online. The comments were positive and the jeans looked great, and I took a chance. They are perfect. Wide leg, stylish, modern, stretchy but not shapeless, and SUPER comfortble. So yay to Target for these jeans. OOPS- when I tried to link to the jeans, I got no hits. Could it be that those were my last pair???????? I am hoping this is a seasonal blip and that they will return soon….
I have a pair of Right Fit jeans from Lane Bryant that I really like, in the medium dark wash. I like them because the talls actually long enough that I don’t look ridiculous. The super dark wash, though, is terrible. They don’t stretch at all!
I have short legs, so it’s hard to find jeans that fit well. My current favorite jeans are Long and Lean jeans from the Gap. They’re nice and fitted without being tight. I don’t LOVE love them, but they’re the best ones I have right now.
I live in New Zealand and while our plus size offerings have gotten better over the years there has always been a gap in the more casual end of the market; specifically, jeans have always been difficult to come by and expensive to purchase (plus also usually liberally daubed with glitter/sprinkles and animal prints – no plain demin for us fatties!) So imagine my surprise when I found – purely by accident, I got lost on the my way to the shoe department and found myself in the plus size section – the *perfect* jeans at, of all places, Kmart! They’re a perfect mid blue, not too high and not too low waist, boot legged (I prefer that cut, it seems to ‘balance’ my figure better) and best of all; they fitted my height! Usually jeans my size are made for 7 foot tall Amazonian women. I am 5 foot 6 :) I love them, but even though the price was OK I could only afford 2. Am hoping to save up and buy more… one day…
I always blush to admit this, since people are always lecturing me about shopping there, but my favorite jeans are from Wal-mart (house brand, Faded Glory). I found them in Fairbanks (my hometown) when I was visiting during a very cold Alaskan summer & had only one pair of long pants with me. They are stretchy & light & fit me perfectly everywhere–& I tend to get compliments when I wear them. “Great jeans! Where did you get them?” “Er [blush, stammer], the Super Evil Empire.”
I do like my one pair of Lane Bryant Right Fit jeans pretty well, but I too have the problem of the curvy fit nipping me a little too tightly in the waist. Plus, they made the dang zipper so short that it can be hard to wrestle the waistband up over my wide hips.
I am going to have to try to LB jeans I guess, because I have a horrible time finding jeans that feel comfortable.
My favorite (and only!) pair of jeans are from Old Navy with the terrible style name of “the flirt” in the short length. They fit pretty well, but they still feel too snug when I sit, but the next size up is way too big.
I used to have a pair of favourites (They were from a jean store in Australia), but I dream of finding the same kind after I grew out of them.
My dream pair is bootcut in a dark, charcoal wash, with large pockets on the back, and has a little coin-pocket thing for change in one of the front pockets. It doesn’t dig into my stomach when I sit, and hugs my thighs deliciously before flaring out from my knees onwards. I love jeans that make me FEEL sexy just being in them.
My favorite pair of jeans are a dark denim wash Lane Bryant pair BEFORE the Right Fit came along. I love these jeans! Unfortunately, I can not find them anymore. I have checked in some outlet stores to no avail. I’m tall, 6′, and chubby so when I find jeans that fit I buy more than one pair. I am taking super good care of these jeans because in them, I feel normal. Not superstar, or sexy, but just like I”m a normal woman not someone who has to horde jeans because she is afraid of not finding her size again.
My favorite pair of jeans i finally threw in the trash a few weeks ago because id repaired them so many times. . . they were from Fashion Bug. They were super stretchy which i normally don’t go for cause i’m not really into jeggings. But that always does good things for the derrier department. They had a weird round cowboy type of stitching thing that called attention to my knees which i normally am not as fond of also. But somehow these combos together just made me feel like i was reakkt rockin somethin everytime i put them on.
Oh wow, I need some new jeans. My favorite pair are kind of a light/dark blue…they aren’t too light, but aren’t too blue. They are kind of tight at first, but get comfy as you wear them. I just love wearing jeans most of the time but these are the only ones I have. It’s so hard to find good jeans.
my fave pair ever were from avenue – they were slightly long, but they were wicked comfortable, had flames up the sides and were on extreme clearance -
My favorite jeans are Joes Honey fit, they fir very nice, but are very expensive! I have also had good luck with Lucky Brand jeans. They seem to not be as low cut as most. I hate having to yank up the back of my jeans everytime I stand up!!! I like the mid-rise better….would love to try these jeans! I have been seeing them in magazines!
I’ve never tried Torrid or Lee. Old Navy pants irritate me, no matter what kind I buy, they all do that annoying gap at the top of my butt and slide all over the place. I need my jeans to stay in place, thank you. I have found some jeans from Target that I love but my favorite of all time jeans are from Avenue. It’s really hard for me to find jeans that fit properly because of my shortness plus really big butt. I can’t do petite because they never seem to be long enough in the legs for my taste and average is usually too long unless I’m wearing heels but Avenue’s averages actually hang on me properly and they are soft and hug me in all the right places.
My Favourite Jeans are Diet Free Denim. Not Your Daughters Jeans are by far the best pair of denim to ever lift my behind and give shape to all my unsightly lumps and bumps. All though they are a bit pricey they are so well sorth the investment. You can literally drop one pant size when wearing these jeans!!
My favorite pair of jeans is one I bought from a thrift store ages ago. I don’t know what brand it is, but the fabric is stretchy and comfortable. They’re very dark blue, almost black. I suppose I like them because they fit me perfectly, which doesn’t happen too often with jeans.
My favorite pair of jeans are the ones I purchased from delias.com about 2 years ago. I realize it’s a site for teens, but I’m short and petite and have such a hard time finding jeans. I have the body of a 14 year old boy and most “Mall” jeans are made for Supermodels. Don’t even get me started! Anyways, the length is perfect, there’s no gap in the back AND they actually make my butt look good! :)
I have 2 pair of stretch jeans from The Avenue that I LOVE. They have that weird stretchy mesh you seemed not to like but I actually kind of do.
My jeans size varies from 22-26 depending on the cut and maker. I am not super tall but regular lengths tend to shrink after a couple of washes and it looks like I’m waiting for a flood. So I always try to find jeans with a longer inseam or made for talls.
i’ve had many pairs of ‘favorite’ jeans over the years, actually. express used to make my favorite ones, when i could still fit into their sizes (and before they started charging like $80 for jeans with odd green-ish streaks and ‘distressed’ knees-no, thank you!). i liked gap for awhile, but they always seemed to be too flared, and i always giggled at the ‘long and lean’ title because i get the idea but i am neither long nor lean.
but for the past few years, it’s been old navy. just regular blue sweetheart jeans, that fit me reliably, make my butt look good, have enough stretch, and don’t have any weird holes or finishes i dislike. they may sound boring, but i kind of like my jeans boring, so i can dress up my outfits with cute tops, pretty jewelry and sexy shoes!
Depressingly, I don’t have a favorite pair of jeans. I’m apple-shaped and have no ass, and I have yet to find a pair of jeans that will *fit*. They’re all either high enough that they hit in the middle of my apple (and then roll down, bunching up around my underbelly) or they’re lower cut but slip off of my ass as I walk.
I’m at a point where I’d happily pay $100 for a pair of jeans that would fit me. Given that my normal upper limit for clothing is about $20, that says a lot.
I’m chiming in for target! I love my bootcut, low rise petite jeans. they are perfectly tight right out of the laundry and are great to go out, but once you’ve worn them once or twice they have that amazing “broken in” feeling that is so comfortable. Plus it gives you the “boyfriend jean” look without having to wear a belt. I think i’ll wear them tomorrow!
Unfortunately for me jeans tend to wear out but my favorite pair of jeans ever were these jeans I got at Fashion Bug Plus.. I can’t even remember the brand, maybe it was L.A. Blues or something, but they were this really vibrant wash and when they got too small for me I put these crazy fabric panels in the sides and when I would go somewhere with blacklights they would glow. They were comfy and amazing.
Right now I pretty much live in the Old Navy Low-Rise flares. The regular is one of the few regular-length jeans that actually are the right length, since I’m really too tall for a petite but too short for most regulars from places like Lane Bryant.
My favorite (read: only) pair of jeans I got at Target. They’re slightly stretchy, straight-legged, and look and feel awesome. I can’t recall the brand right now, and they’re in the wash, I think.
Currently, I am actually digging the Lane Bryant Right Fit jeans. I have the straight (yellow) type…and find that the fit is overall pretty good, and actually makes me look like I *have* an ass, which is great, because baggier jeans just don’t work for that. But I really need to try out some other types too…
My favorite pair of jean…they’re not current, but instead a pair dead because of the inner thigh holes could be repaired no more…and now they are lovingly remembered. Gap. Dark wash. Petite bootcut.
I have a pair I bought from Target (here in Australia) that I loved to death. I still have them, but they need some repairs. I should do something about that, because they fit me beautifully. They are a little longer in the leg than I need, but I’ve worn the hems down to feathers so they look cool like that. I have a very big tummy, so it’s hard to get jeans to fit nicely, as I’ve got proportionately slim legs and flatter butt than my tum. They either gape at the back, or they’re too tight in the crotch.
These fit just right. They have just the right amount of stretch, they’re a good quality denim and the colour is a nice mid-blue. Sadly they no longer make these either!
I have to confess, I’m entering for a pair of new jeans. I love my jeans! They’re mostly from Target and Lane Bryant. But I could use some variety in my purchased brands of jeans. I want to try something new that I know will be COMFORTABLE, since comfort is my primary concern when it comes to clothing.
I’ve always had pretty good luck with Torrid because they seem to recognize girls with no hips. I have a pair of Paris Blues from Torrid that I LUV. I almost replaced them with a Torrid Brand jean that fit really well also but then the price brought that to a screaching halt. Holy mother! I can’t justify $60 for a pair of jeans, good economy or bad.
My favorite pair of jeans are Lane Bryant dark wash trousers cut. When I bought them, they made my ass look fabulous (which wasn’t easy) and my legs look slender. I felt like a rockstar in those jeans.
Unfortunately, now they’re too big and LB has changed the styling on the jeans now. I need a new favorite pair!
My favorites at the moment are a pretty old pair of boot cut jeans from Old Navy. They are from before they gave all their jeans cutesy names. I couldn’t wear jeans to work, so I didn’t have very many pairs. But now I’m a SAHM of two, and I really only have the one pair that fits well, so I’m in the market for some new ones!
Wow – no one has mentioned my very favorite jeans – Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans. They are the ONLY jeans I have ever found that fit me perfectly without gapping at the waist. They have a little bit of stretch to accommodate the extra curves, but they’re not tight.
I love these jeans so much that I will special order them because there is no longer anywhere around me that carries them.
I’ve never been able to try out more expensive jeans, so my opinion is not based on much variety, but the Right Fit rodeo cut from Fashion Bug are amazing on me! My body is proportioned much differently post-children, so it’s hard for me to find anything to fit my very round belly without sagging in the crotch and hanging weirdly. They actually look good on me, relatively speaking.
Interestingly enough, my favorite jeans ever were a pair of Lee jeans. They were the perfect medium wash, and they fit very comfortably, especially since I wore them so often. The stretchiness was perfect and they were juniors jeans without looking too young and juvenile. I ended up catching them on something and ripping them, and I miss them so! Especially since I think Lee changed their styles after that and I haven’t been able to find anything similar.
These days I frequent some Gap jeans, which are perfectly fine, but nothing too special.
My favorite pairs of jeans are my two non-Right Fit, dark wash trouser jeans from Lane Bryant. I don’t own jeans from anywhere else.
If anyone is in Houston, I’ve actually spotted Not Your Daughter’s Jeans at Ross within the last month for under $30.
Oh, and Mo Pie, WalMart has L.E.I. jeans now up to a Juniors 27.
I love my lane Bryant jeans in boot cut. I just recently started wearing jeans after about 10 years.
I haven’t found a “favorite” pair of jeans yet. I’m still searching for one. For now, I make do with my LB jeans and a pair from Kohls.
I have been wearing Lane Bryant’s tall boot cut jeans since I moved to the States. At any given time I can have up to five pairs in my closet. Currently I also have a couple of pairs of their denim trousers.
I realized on my last trip though, that none of these jeans actually fit me right. Very irritated right now.
sadly, i don’t really have a favorite pair right now; gained too much weight for my formerly favorite Gap Curvy cut jeans…..
My all time favorite was a pair of old Levis that my dad gave me. I think they were 501’s. Everything about those jeans was perfect. But that was 15 years (and about 60 lbs) ago.
Being that I’m 6′ 2″ length is very important to me. So now my favorites are just ones that fit. I have a pair of bootcut Levis that work pretty well. They have a little stretch, which is nice but I’d like for them to be just a wee bit longer.
My favorite pair of jeans actually was a pair of Lee’s–during my grad school days. A standard pair of darkish denims that washed to a lovely fade…
My favorite jeans are from Old Navy. They have embroidery on the “tramp stamp” area. While I would never (ever!) get a tattoo there, the embroidery on those jeans makes me feel bad-ass.
I have had good luck with Lane Bryant, some oftheir more designery styles are still long enough for me, and the right fit trouser & bootcut are definitely faves, though I’m unfortunately between sizes 1 & 2 right now, so I wear the 2s when I feel like having baggy jeans. Right now I’m wearing a a new pair of trouser style LB with 3 buttons at the waist and I’m LOVING them, something about the wide waistband and the back pocket placement makes my butt look fabulous in them! Torrid Apple Bottoms are super cute, but they are never high enough in the rise for me, I’d be flashing builder’s bum all the itme in them.
I had some Lees when I was younger, and remember them as fitting surprisingly well, I think they were the first pair of jeans I actually LIKED. I just haven’t had much luck finding them in my size in recent years.
My fave jeans right now are Avenue’s Denim Light bootcut jeans. I like the crispness of the light weight, the comfort of the stretch, and they fit me like a glove. No sagging under my big fat ass, and the waist sits just right where it should. They’re so comfortable, they look great and they FIT. Trifecta.
I have always been a big fan of Lane Bryant Jeans and then they got rid of my favorite style, the flare leg, and they stopped carrying tall sizes in the store. Annoying! So unfortunately my problem isn’t so much as finding a plus-sized jean as it is finding a plus size jean in tall that isn’t too terribly expensive.
I used to have a pair of Lee jeans that I just loved, but they wore out years ago.
My current favorites are Just My Size stretch jeans. I’m so hard to fit because my butt is shaped funny. I’m sort of long waisted in the back (because of the way my butt sticks out) and short waisted in the front. Just My Size are the only ones that fit my natural waist both in the front and in the back and don’t cut into my waist when I sit down, so I wear them almost exclusively.
Back in the 80s there was a brand called Chic (can’t remember who made them) that I just adored. They actually came in multiple waist lengths, not just in leg lengths, for each size. This was before spandex and stretch jeans, and they were the only jeans I could stand to wear, since they were the only ones that really fit my waist properly. Now with the stretch jeans available, even if they ride a little high in the front, they don’t cut in like the non-stretch when I sit down.
I feel the same way about Lane Bryant’s Right Fit Jeans. I’ve bought a couple different ones, and don’t like any of them.
I’d love to win a pair of jeans that fit! And hey, I’m a student, so I’m all for free stuff.
Well, my favorite jeans EVER were Wranglers I got from Goodwill, or maybe my dad, and they were bootcut and worn-in and just fabulous. I saved them after they ripped apart, hoping to make them into something else so I could keep loving them.
But right now, I have two pairs of Fashion Bug’s Right Fit jeans that I like – they definitely fit better than the Lane Bryant version and they are far cheaper. Definitely better than the mom-ish Old Navy ones I never wear and the Daisy Fuentes ones from Kohl’s that stretched out so that my whole ass hangs out when I bend over.
Old Navy cuffed “skinny” jeans. They are awesome.
My favorite pair of jeans is from Lane Bryant’s Right Fit line. Blue Circles were made for me! Finally a fit that understood that I am a pear shaped gal who needs more fullness from the hips down, and hates a gaping waistband. While there is some stretch, it’s not enough to deter me from living in these jeans.
I am a grossly underpaid public school teacher, so free jeans would be incredibly welcomed. I’ve not seen the Lee jeans you described where I shop, but I will be looking for them since I, too, love to live in jeans and a good fit is worth my weight in gold :)
I wear what jeans are on sale at Modell’s, men’s jeans, generally Lee’s. I don’t really care about the specific fit, just that I can zip them and that I’m not walking on the hem, maybe one day I’ll wear a pair of women’s jeans and I’ll understand what I’ve been missing!
My favorite pair of historic jeans are the ones that I wore to see Huey Lewis and the News in 1988, for my 15th birthday. They were skinny acid wash jeans and had pink flowers all over them. I wore them with a hot pink sweater vest, and white polo shirt with a popped collar.
I really like the LA Blues flares/bootcut (I can’t tell the difference) from Fashion Bug that I bought two years ago, but my boss said they weren’t work appropriate anymore. I bought a pair of “low rise” jeans from Old Navy that sort of fit, but they don’t come up far enough in the back to stay up throughout the day.
I’m currently on a search for jeans that hasn’t been going well. I’ve ordered from several companies, but it’s nigh unto impossible to find well-fitting jeans in my size. I think I’m about a 30W, but at 5′6″, I’m apparently “short” or “petite.” Until last year I was average.
So this turned out to be a tale of woe rather than a tale of joy. Maybe you could make me happy with a pair of 30W jeans from Lee? (Hoping, of course, that they’re not tapered legs, because those are seriously unflattering on me.)
my favorite pair of jeans are bitten by sjp from steve and barry’s. they are one of the few pairs of jeans that fit my 5′2, thick, and hourglass sized frame. unfortunately, they went out of business and now i have to resort to ebay!
My favorites are also l.e.i.s from Torrid. They’re a really light wash, flared leg, a little too long (but good with heels!). It’s all about the back pockets for me. I am fat, but have a pretty flat ass. The pockets are high and somewhat close together with top flaps. They make me look like I have a nice round ass. I own a pair of Lee jeans I got at Dillards. Same deal – good back pockets. The only thing I don’t love about them is that the front pockets are very shallow.
I like the Lane Bryant right fit blue, because I have big hips and a big butt. I’ve heard that after the big build-up LB gave the idea of different jeans for differently shaped people, they’re only carrying one of the fits in the stores, and not the one I need. Boo hiss.
Although I like the fit as far as hip-to-waist ratio, the legs of even the petite version are too long for me. I’m not short, but my legs are. Surely I’m not the only fairly tall but long-waisted and short-legged person out there!
I have. Um. Four pairs of the Right Fits? And I’m getting two more because a couple of my first ones are wearing out? Because I wear them every day?
I mean, really. The yellows fit me perfectly. Ridiculously perfectly. Between my big butt and my big belly they fit amazingly well. And the petite length is juuuust right for my short legs. I personally find that they stretch just enough.
I would totally keep looking elsewhere – I have a pair of wide-leg jeans by Freestyle that I would adore if they didn’t have some whiskering – but they closed the Torrid near me and my Target is downsizing its plus racks. Alas.
I really like Avenue’s jeans. I don’t know if they have any other name to them. Too lazy to look at the tag. LOL They fit well, can buy straight from the catalog and know they’ll fit. As opposed to ANY other vendor I’ve tried. My only complaint, as with the majority of women’s clothing. No matter the size is the fact they won’t last long. Thin material. And with the brush fire starting from my thunder thighs rubbing together they won’t last nearly as long as some others.
My favorite pair of jeans came from Torrid. I think they were Z. Cavaricci brand, and they fit me really well! I’ve had them for maybe three years and two months ago they have started to succumb to thighdestruction (so I’ve started frankenstein repairing them with old jeans to patch up the holes, hahaha). I loved them because they are the first pair of “skinny” jeans that actually fit my legs. Usually when I look for skinny jeans the leg is way too wide for my calves, and these are just right. Still a little too big for my (weirdly dainty) ankles, but I love them. Too bad they are on life support.
The best pair of jeans I own is from Evans.

Not super expensive in the Torrid/Lane Bryant world but waaaay softer and more comfortable than anything I’ve ever worn. Only problem is they are not U.S. so you have to wait a bit for them, but honestly the shipping is just as fast as Old Navy or Torrid (and I don’t order from Torrid because they only use FEDEX and they once left my wedding dress in a puddle outside)
sigh.
My favorite pair are actually a pair of Levi’s I got from Macy’s. I love them so much that I’ve worn the fated hole in the thigh. Unfortunately they are about to go to their grave. o well : (
I’m in the camp of not so much having favorite so much has just having jeans that get the job done. Finding jeans that both cover my rear acreage and don’t gap mightily at the waist has been an exercise in futility on my budget. Jeans for a plus size hourglass? I wish! So right now I am wearing the dreaded “mom jeans” and though I love my nieces and nephews to bits, I never wanted kids of my own! Arrrghhh! Okay, now that that’s out of my system – thank you JC Penny’s for the Cabin Creek elastic waist jeans! Not the most fashion forward but with a long sweater or top who really knows anyway? They are comfortable, inexpensive, and last much longer than a $22 pair of jeans has a right to.
My favorites right now are a pair of Vigoss jeans, comfy, stretchy straight-leg ones with cute button flap pockets. I found them at JC Penney’s of all places.
I suddenly found myself with only one pair of jeans that I could wear, after a zipper broke on one beloved pair and an unredeemable tear on a second. I’m around a size 22 at Target and the like, but on hated everything I saw because it was 6 inches or more too long.
I endured a trip to Nordstrom’s and found a pair of Ralph Lauren boyfriend fit jeans in a dark wash that will at least get me to work decently covered, and for only 45 bucks.
My favourite jeans of all time are a pair of Apple Bottom jeans that I got from Torrid about 3 years ago. I wore the crap outta them, I loved them so much. Great wash, great fit, the pockets were apple shaped, and they made my butt look soooooooooooo good. I’ve been searching for a year in vain trying to replace them but the sizes don’t go as high as they used to (I bought a 26 and now I can’t find them higher than a 22/24) and the new washes are iffy. My favourite jeans that I wear right now are Lane Bryant right fit (blue). I just recently was forced to give up the flare leg pair I owned due to holes in the thigh (damn you chub rub!) but I’ve got a trouser jean pair that works well too. I actually just ordered 3 pairs of jeans from their website on sale – stretch flare, straight leg, and denim trouser. I’d love a pair of lee’s to go along with them!
Ohh still in under the wire!
I’m currently wearing my favorite pair of jeans – a pair of straight-leg medium wash jeans that I picked up at a Liz Claiborne outlet for about seven bucks. They aren’t “Liz” pants but they are made by “Access” which I guess is under the Liz-brella. I like them because they are a straight-leg slim-fit sort of jean that fits my substantial thighs right at an 18 — usually I have to go up a size to fit my thighs, which gives me saggy butt. I could sleep in these pants — they are a little loose right now because I lost a lot of weight recovering from the Swine Flu (seriously, i’m an H1N1 survivor — isn’t that enough to get me some free pants? hehe) but I still wear them all the damn time.
I just had my first baby five months ago and am just now coming to terms with the fact that the pre-Jack jeans just don’t fit. I finally sucked it up and went shopping at Old Navy yesterday. I don’t have much time to shop with a new baby, so being a formerly thin girl, I am used to making a beeline for that store.
I was skeptical about low rise jeans in bigger sizes, but I was VERY happily surprised at the “Diva” jeans. I normally wear a 16 in jeans, but I was able to get a 14 in these and they fit great. I have a short waist and these “ultra low rise” hit me right below the belly button. They were kind of tight/snug when I tried them on, but from experience, these jeans stretch out some pretty quick and they have. I like the slight stretch in them because I have a pretty big roll and smaller legs….all jeans makers assume that if you are fat in one place, you are fat all over…not always true…
My two all time favorites, one from Gap and one from Old Navy, have all been discontinued, my all-the-time standby are Levi’s 515 boot cut, low rise. Again, if you are short waisted, they come to below your belly button. The “Mom” jeans come just below my breasts…LOL!
Would love a new pair of Lee’s! I have never tried them, but if they are as wonderful as you say, I will even post my picture in them! Thanks!
My current favorite pair of jeans is the Lane Bryant Right Fit Straight-Leg jean. I’m not nuts about the Right Fit line, but I practically ran to LB when they announced a straight-leg jean. For years. I’m bought jeans masquerading as straight-leg when they were really boot-cut. This time I held my breath as I carefully folded up the bottom of the leg toward the knee and discovered it truly was a straigh-leg. Hooray!
My faves are a pair of Bitten by sjp, sold at the late lamented (by me, anyhow) Steve & Barry’s. I’ve been trying to find another pair since I fell at the airport and tore these, but can’t seem to find the straight-leg on ebay. Frustrating!
My favorite jeans are Calvin Klein boot-cut. I don’t know what it is, but they just always make me look way more awesome than I expect! I’m pretty frugal, so I try to find them in thrift stores, and it is pretty hard to find my size, but it is worth the hunt!
Not your daughter’s jeans! Expensive, yes, but worth it if you can swing it. The way the pockets reach across the front sometimes bugs me (they’re open all the way to the zipper because of the magic tummy elastic) because you’re like, where’s my lip gloss? oh, it traveled half way around the equator…but still. Love them, wearing the black ones & grey ones to work (shhhh). Not all the styles are flattering; like all jeans, you have to try & try!
My favorite pair of jeans was one from Seven brand that I found on sale at Lane Bryant. They were perfect; even though I has heavier than I am now, they made me feel really stylish and I liked the way my butt looked in them.
I lost a lot of weight a couple of years ago, rather quickly, and I got rid of a lot of my bigger clothes. The jeans I had loved no longer fit, and no longer looked good; they just looked far too baggy. I sold some stuff and donated the rest.
At this point I’m about halfway between those two weights, and pretty comfortable with myself. But I still miss those Seven jeans, that were stylish, flattering, AND super cheap (clearance for $15, I couldn’t believe that they were still there when I bought them).
My most favorite jeans of all time are an old pair of Lane Bryant Venezia. I have no idea how old they are – I bought them in a consignment shop four or five years ago. They fit so fabulously and they make my ass and my legs look great. I have to wear them sparingly because 1)they are wearing out and 2)I don’t want to overexpose the awesomeness. :)
I just recently fell in love with Deb’s plus size jeans. I used to avoid Deb because they tend to use very tacky cheap fabrics and have some odd ideas about what’s fashionable. But, when my Right Fits started to wear huge thigh holes, I tried Deb’s on a whim.
Oh. My. God. I absolutely love the fit. They have a variety of cuts, so I could get one that fits a curvy form without cutting in too much at the waist (which was my problem with the Right Fits). They are snug to my booty and don’t leave the legs too baggy. I still need more jeans, as I’m now only down to two Deb pairs.
My favorite jeans are a pair of Delia’s jeans that have distressing & light razor scratches (neat little lines) on the knee and back pocket. They don’t have holes! Just light straight lines – not sure if there’s a name for them. These jeans fit really well, though I think washing has shortened them.
My favorite part is the row of scratches on the knee. Whenever I’m nervous, I just rub those little scratches – the feel of them is so comforting! (I do not rub my back pocket because that would be creepy.) I adore these jeans – they were super inexpensive but so far have been really comfortable and durable. I wish I could afford designer jeans (with select patches of comfort scratches, if possible…) because I think the fit would be more flattering.
My favorite pair of jeans was this trouser cut style I bought probably five years ago at LB. They were sort of stretchy (but not too much lycra that they lost their shape after one wearing) and had a dark wash with subtle pinstriping, welt pockets, and a cuffed hemline. I loved them! They were even classy enough for my anti-jean workplace but they were super-comfy to boot. I don’t think I’ve found a really amazing pair since those!
My favourite pair of jeans is unknown. I live in Canada, in a city where almost everyone is small and fits under a size twelve. There are NO plus-sized stores in the area, and all other stores carry up to like, 14 tops. I morph through favourite jeans, but recently I’ve had to go shopping across the border at Torrid to find something that fits and is comfortable. They have a new brand, Source of Wisdom, that is not bad at all. I’m still in search for that perfect denim though – the one that hugs just right and fits just right and doesn’t fall off of me whenever I move. Maybe I’ll find it someday :(.
My favourite jeans ever were from Addition-Elle. They were some brand name that started with a P (it was etched in my brain for years, but now it has slipped away). They were the perfect length, the narrowed in a bit at the knee and flared out a little bit at the ankle just a bit, so for some reason they made my legs look long and thin. They were super-comfy, but also fashionable. Sigh-my dog chewed them up when I first got him. I’ve searched high and low for them for over 10 years, but they no longer exist. Good thing I love my dog. A lot.
My fav pair of jeans happen to be Lee and I have no idea what the style name is. I used to buy Lee exclusively because of the Union label but that is gone now. :( Back then I could try on two identical looking pairs and instantly know that they were made in two different locations (U.S. or Mexico) because of the cut. I mean they were the ONLY brand I would wear. The pair I have now are comfy and remind me of the “old” Lees that I grew to love.
My favourite jeans right now are Gap Essentials! There’s an outlet near my house, and 7 bucks!!! How can you not like jeans that are 7 bucks!?
I hate jeans. Plus size selection in Canada is awful in any clothing, and worse in denim. I am long-waisted and short-legged for my height so I’m a fit nightmare. If anyone made a pair of jeans that I could even tolerate I’d jump for joy.

I am sure I missed the boat on the contest, but have to share with you my jean obsession. I have been scouting for THE PERFECT PAIR for the past 3 years. I am not so much in love with Lane Bryant and my other more-to-love selections. Torrid is hit or miss. Old Navy is cut weird. I am tall and baby got back. I rarely purchase the same jeans twice because for one reason or another, I become disenchanted. Well, I have FOUR pairs of Silver Frances cut jeans. They certainly got it right. The inseam is 33″. PERFECT. The jeans are stretchy, but not spandexy. The colors are DEAD ON. They look like the trendy jeans that all the skinny girls get to wear while my options have always been acid-washed or dark blue. LOVE THEM. They are comfy and I look hot without looking like sausage. I have since ordered some more Silver Brand in different cuts because I am so impressed. I have emailed all my friends about them, so, it’s only fitting that I go bragging on various blogs. (But, I have to admit, I waiting to go bragging to everyone until I hit my purchase limit because I didn’t want my size to run out. That’s right. I made sure I got mine first!) Anyway, try ‘em and let me know what you think.
My favorites are Lucky Brand jeans or sometimes Gap or Old Navy.

Absolutely agree with the svoboda problem. They look totally gorgeous right out of the dryer but the butt bags in a couple hours so you look like you’re wearing a diaper.
I love Target women’s jeans, but I only like dark wash, which they only carry a couple times a year. I order four pairs at a time.
Tsukata where is the store where all the LE custom jeans that do not fit get returned to? If near me I will try that too. Do they have alot to choose from or only a few pair?
