Self-Esteem Awareness Month
Jill at Imagine Today is kicking off Self-Esteem Awareness Month today, with a list of great suggestions of things to do every day this month to increase our self-esteem. First comes Change Your Mindset; then Change Your Actions; then Change Your World. Here’s today’s:
August 1st – Lets start this all of with a simple exercise that has been suggested on this blog before; write a list of at least five things about yourself that you love and tuck that list away somewhere for the next time you’re feeling down. I tend to make a new list/add to an old one every week or so – its a really quick & easy self-esteem boost.
This month comes at a great time for me. The new year (2009B) kicks off today, so it’s a perfect time for a little dash of self-improvement. If you’re inclined to share your list, let’s share in the comments! I’m still working on mine, but will post it as soon as I’m done!

It should not be that hard to come up with this list! And yet somehow it is.
We have something like this at our school! I love it. I think it’s something that all women need. Looking forward to seeing your list.
Here is my list!
1. I am intelligent and well-read.
2. My students like me.
3. My friends love me, and I have some amazing, true friends.
4. I take pictures I like!
5. I have kept this blog for five years, and it has made a difference to people.
1) I am a marvelous nurturer.
2) I often keep people laughing.
3) I am gentle.
4) I read widely, with an open mind.
5) I have taught myself how to grow lots of vegetables.
1. My head is filled with the world’s most awesome techno music. Ok, I can’t get it out yet, but I’m working on it.
2. I can knit and crochet, and I taught myself these things.
3. In fact, I teach myself all sorts of things, all the time. I really like that I don’t just give up in the face of learning something new and technical.
4. I am resourceful.
5. I am a hearty polar bear and I can wear short sleeves for most of the year.
@Godless Heathen – You are my new best friend! “a hearty polar bear” is the best description for what I would consider myself, as well. This summer heat is killing me and I rarely wear a winter coat, even in the central NY cold and snow.
1: I write well enough to get paid for doing so.
2: When I sing I sound like Grace Slick and have enough power to be heard down the block without a mic.
3: I can feed nearly anyone, bringing both comfort and energy.
4: I can weave lace with my fingers (and a few tools).
5: I have a gift for making people laugh.
Great lists everyone! Keep em coming, for sure. By the way, I asked my husband for my help (“What do I like about myself?”) and he said, “You like that you are funny. You like that you are so nice. You like looking at pictures of yourself. You like to make mix CDs…” [glances at half-painted turquoise kitchen] “…and you like your sense of color!”
1. I can teach myself just about anything I want to learn.
2. I have a reasonable amount of artistic talent
3. I am an awesome cook.
4. I’m a natural care giver, I’ll help anyone who needs it human, or animal.
5. I have a rocking sense of fashion.
I just blogged mine.
1. I have a pretty fantastic, sharp, sarcastic sense of humor. Not everyone gets it but that’s OK because I keep myself entertained.
2. I’m a redhead. I love that. But also I’m a redhead with really dark brown eyes which is a somewhat unusual combination.
3. My taste in music has always been unique from most people. I like that.
4. I knit. I’m always proud to wear something I have made myself. Especially when someone compliments me and asks where I got it. I love the looks on people’s faces when I say I made it.
5. I don’t take anything at face value – I question what I hear before I believe it.
Now on to work on day 2’s task!
Also I want to add a #6 that mimics DaniFae – I have an excellent sense of fashion as well.
1. I have a great smile.
2. I have an infectious laugh.
3. Bodacious breasts
4. I am graceful.
5. I’m also very flexible.
6. I make delicious chocolate chip cookies.
7. I am a talented artist.
1. I have nice eyes.
2. I try hard to speak the truth.
3. I’m mostly easy-going.
4. I have a nice fair/pink colored skin.
5. I take good photos.
That was harder than expected.
1) I’m damn good at mathematics.
2) I look amazing in red lipstick.
3) My beautiful, brilliant friends all love me.
4) I think about things deeply, and am not afraid to question my beliefs.
5) I have a soft, sweet, sensual physique.
1) I’m good at helping people
2) I have great friends
3) I love deeply
