"I'm Fat And Nobody Likes Me"
So this is a teen (tween?) band called Chair, with a song called “I’m Fat And Nobody Likes Me.” Finkbuilt describes it as “Awesome teen angst comedy mischief pop by Chair. Kind of NSFW, sophomoric and juvenile.” On YouTube, they are being compared to everyone from Jack Black to Moldy Peaches. Take a look (again, lyrics are slightly NSFW):

Just to rain on the parade, if this song had been “I’m a geek/nerd and nobody likes me” with the same type of comments about being bullied and humiliated would it still be seen as funny here at BB? Maybe this is just adolescent males being adolescent males, but as a fat person I’m not too amused.
What makes this so uplifting, in a media culture that gives fat kids such a rough time, is that he gets to make his own media and its so clear he will be so well liked.
I really AM fat, and have often felt no one liked me, especially in high school. I think this is great.
I have to say I come down firmly in the pro column on this song. I enjoyed the hell out of it, and think it’s if anything, empowering. This is a kid who has managed to turn being fat and being picked on for being fat into a cool thing. And that rocks, as far as I can see. Thanks to Mary for the link!

This song is hilarious, and I really think anyone who is offended because it has the word “fat” in the title needs to actually listen to the words. Most of the song is about pooping on things, and they can barely keep a straight face while singing, so I don’t think their intention was to actually make fun of fat people. That kid is a GREAT guitarist, though. I hope he’s encouraged by the positive feedback to do more!
Genius. Totally. Reminds me of the musical phenoms I grew up with (one went on to do studio work for Peter Gabriel, no joke, he was a true talent…) anyway, the shock value inherent in the lyrics is no biggie. That is essential teenage angst — no holds barred. Love it! No fat offense taken here — those kids rock!
I really hope I’m not the only one who hates this but I guess I just don’t find it that funny.. I dunno. And how old is that kid?
I am fully on the pro side. This kid rocks. It is about him. He does not owe society a thing. Just become cool for who he is.
I love it! The only way I managed to get through my teen years was by – metaphorically speaking – giving the world the finger. I think this guy is doing just that. He rocks!

This made my day! My favorite part was where he says that he poops on his cat because it’s the only thing he’s above. It is really juvenile, but sometimes that’s just what you need.
I didn’t get to listen to the whole song because of my stupid internet connection, but I loved it and those kids! I think they need to continue working on songs and such. Now to work on this internet so I can listen to the rest of it. >_<
Um, to me it depends. Did he write that song about some one else? Are they using that song and the internet to be bullies? Is there really some one in their class who has three warts on their thigh?
Not only is this hilarious, these kids can really really play well. I get the sense that this comes from them – and that the kids have a sense of humor about themselves.
