What Cute Clothes Have You Worn Lately?

A while back, the kind folks at SWAK Designs offered to send me an item of clothing or two to try out (and be brutally honest about, of course). Since I’m always happy to find another source for plus-size fashion in these uncertain times, I said, and I’m paraphrasing here, “Woo!”

In the picture, I’m wearing the Camille Tie Cardigan, in black, with a basic black Target tank top underneath. It’s super comfortable but also professional looking; I often wear it when I’m teaching. And it’s on sale for less than $25, which makes me think I should order it in brown immediately.

In this picture, in which you can’t really see the dress, but it’s the only picture I have at the moment, I’m wearing the Desi Peasant Dress in black. Love it. Incredibly comfortable. That picture was taken at a rehearsal dinner at a Mexican restaurant, so I felt festively thematic!

I know both of these things are basic black, but in browsing their site, I see they have a lot of different options, lots of styles, lots of colors… from browsing around, I feel like I could probably find some cool stuff. And Weetabix, our resident fashionista, has also given SWAK the official seal of approval, saying she has several of their outfits and dresses.

So there you go, a little fashion source, in case you hadn’t already heard!

And if you’ve had any experiences (good or bad) with SWAK or have any pictures to share, feel free to share in the comments! In fact, let’s talk about any cute outfit you have worn recently. I want pictures and sources, people! It’s Feel Good Friday!

I’d never heard of SWAK designs but the first thing I notice as soon as the website appears is that these are ACTUAL plus sized models! Not the size 10 or 12 that you see everywhere else. These are BEAUTIFUL and REAL women.

Bravo SWAK!! You just earned a new customer!!

I am a skinny FA ally. And I am sad that they only make plus size clothes because I want to wear some! (and yes, the models are gorgeous!)

I’ve never seen them before, but the stuff on the site looks cute and not too expensive. If I had money I’d give them a try. :)

That white peasant dress I would totally wear if I ever get married.

Last Saturday I went to Lane Bryant and purchased an orange V-neck short-sleeved sweater with rhinestone-studded grommets. I got a compliment on it from another large lady while purchasing lottery tickets at a gas station, of all places.

I got the SWAK Kayla dress (in aqua) a few months ago and I love love love it. I was really feeling down about my clothing options – I wanted something fun and sexy like everyone else, and couldn’t find *anything*.

I stumbled on a great all-sizes boutique here in Seattle (Pink Ginger on Queen Anne, if giving a shout-out is OK) and got the SWAK dress and feel like a million bucks when I wear it! I do wear a cami underneath, because I’m not *that* sexy/brave, but otherwise, yum! I can tell that it won’t last forever, given the slight fuzzing that’s happening in a few spots, but for less than $40, I don’t really care!

I’ve ordered from SWAK. The designs are cute and the quality is very good for the price. But be warned: Their fit is not cut for busty women, and sale items can’t be returned for a refund, only store credit.

Don’t know yet what I’m wearing to my sister’s wedding… but I know where it’s coming from.

I went to a financial promotional talk thingy with my Dad at a swanky hotel in Edinburgh recently, and I wore an IGIGI dress that I got at their New Year sale for $20 (!), black surplice neckline with white & grey flowery print, and also took my first handknit sweater for it’s first outing. It’s a purple bolero. I felt very cute, and glad to have found IGIGI through your recommendations. My Dad wore a suit, which is VERY rare, I have yet to upload the photos. We were spiffy.

I’ve been searching and searching for a khaki shirt dress forever, and look at that! You practically found it for me.

I love the fact that their size chart offers arm measurements. A big help as someone who finds many tops/dresses tight in the upper arm

    I LOVE SWAK’s clothes!

I just placed an order for a shirt, cami and skirt. Going on a cruise in July so I need clothes! :D

So nice to see them using real sized models too!

I LOVE SWAK designs, I’ve enjoyed every item I’ve tried. I will say that the adjustable wrap dress takes a LOT of work to put on, but it sure does make my fiancee happy!

I’ve never heard of them before. Thanks for the intro. I like that they use models with curves on their site, I’ll bookmark them for future reference.
