Pardon Our Dust

May 11th, 2009

Just a quick meta note; we are moving,* and I don’t have Internet at the new place yet. So posting may continue to be slightly sporadic for a bit. Thanks for your patience!

[*I should clarify that I don't mean the site is moving, I mean my husband and I are physically changing residences.]

Completely Off-Topic PSA: I am wearing a dress today, and am being protected from the evils of chub-rub by a pair of Champion “fitted bermudas” in some breathy non-sweaty microfiber stuff. The fit is much nicer than usual tight cycle shorts. They juuust reach my knees, and have a smooth line under the dress. Most athletic shorts are way too short to protect my thighs, last week I ended up wearing bright blue yoga capris under a long skirt, I thought other readers might appreciate the product recommendation. I’m size 18 in Lane Bryant and I’m wearing the XL, I know they go to XXL, not sure if they go higher.

Size 16 dropped from Ann Taylor racks

NO MORE SIZE 16s: Ann Taylor is the latest women’s clothing store to eliminate its size 16 from store racks. The size will still be available online.

The retailer blames lack of demand for the size, and joins Banana Republic and other retailers who stopped stocking size 16s in its stores.

Analysts say the move could be an attempt for Ann Taylor as well as other stores to cut costs, according to Crain’s New York, a business journal. Larger sizes are more expensive to produce, requiring separate patterns and more fabric.

Ann Taylor was one of the last retailers to offer the size within its stores. Gap and Banana Republic have not sold size 16 in stores for several years and J. Crew only sells the size online.

The size elimination comes at a time when studies show that 70 percent of American women are a size 12 or larger.

Biggirl- I do the same thing! Although mine is because I’m still a tomboy….or should that be tomman now that I’m 23? Protecting from chub rub is now just an added bonus. ^_^

And Bfd blog come back to us!! I’m suffering from withdrawal now. *sniffle*
