Mini Clothing Giveaway

February 3rd, 2009

I’ve spent the last ten days cleaning my house and purging my closets, and I ran across two work-appropriate items that have never been worn and are pretty nice! (They just didn’t fit right and I never managed to return them.) I figured rather than dumping them off at Goodwill, especially in this economy, I’d rather give them to some BFDivas who could use a couple of nice, businessy items and maybe can’t afford to go clothes shopping.

One is a pair of black pants with red pinstripes from Torrid, size 18; the other is a light blue button-down shirt from Lane Bryant, size 14/16. If you’re interested in one of these, leave a comment! (And if you are in the same position as me and have anything you’d like to give away, feel free to post that in the comments as well.) It can be my good karma for the day!

I have three never-worn Lane Bryant bras in a 44DD that I cannot use.

I could probably take at least one if not all of the Lane Bryant bras – that’s my size and if they don’t fit I can donate them.

    Also ZaftigWendy, I’m a 44DD as well.

I would love the shirt if noone else has claimed it.

On a side note, perhaps this is an idea that needs more development – a place on BFD, or somewhere linked from BFD, where like-minded and like-sized women can trade things they won’t or can’t use. I know how expensive it can be to find things in the right size and I’d much rather help someone out myself than just throw it away or even take it to goodwill.

I would love a site like the one Sishkani is describing — I definitely have things I’d trade.

I tried to do exactly that on my messageboard (in the boutique forum) but it never really took off.

Hyrax and Natasha, I’ll happily send them to you!

Perhaps Mo Pie will forward my email address to you both, so that shipping can commence…

It looks like the clothes have found a home. I still want to do a local BFD meetup this year, and we should include a clothing swap if people have stuff to bring! But February is NO GOOD for me, so I went with this instead… for now.

Zaftig Wendy and people interested in bras, if you send me an e-mail I’ll get you all hooked up.

The boutique forum at The-F-Word might be a great place for further clothing happenings!

The Fatshionista community has sales post Fridays, and people often give away their items.

Anyone else have a moment of mental snark involving the phrase “mini clothing?” lol

Anyhoo, on the topic of second hand plus, I went to Re/Dress NYC for the first time the other day. It. Was. Awesome. Two dresses that looked ridiculously hot on my for under $30 (total!)? Oh hells yeah.
