Nels has alerted us to an event taking place in New York tomorrow, a conference called “Fat is Contagious: Political Fat Queer Visibility and Action in the Age of the “Obesity Epidemic.’” The conferece is $30 at the door, fatures Marilyn Wann of Fat!So? as they keynote speaker, and will be followed by a “Fat and Queer Cabaret and Dance.” Here’s a description:

This conference seeks to provide a space for fat activists and their allies to discuss activism in the current social and political context. Through workshops, art, and discussion we hope to spend a day in conversation and end the day with actions to continue working to increase acceptance of fat people in our society. Afterwards, join us for a Fat and Queer Cabaret and Dance.
