I have ulcerative colitis and when im in a flare, baby food is the only thing i can eat. For a while, i tried the brat diet (bananas rice applesauce toast) but i was still really sick and nauseous. But i picked up the baby food and i could actually keep it down. I highly recommend eating baby food with colitis.
(just not the chunky kind, cant stand the texture) :)

I started the baby food diet today. I read that you can eat 14 servings a day then a regualr dinner. I managed to eat 7 servings throughout the day.
So far the pros are:
Everytime I felt hungry I ate a container of baby food. The 7 servings contained less than 700 calories and then I was blissfully happy eating a turkey sandwich and a salad for dinner. The ingredients are the fruit or veggie and water. As a person with terrible eating habbits being forced to eat fruit and veggies is awesome! Most were pretty good, although I have decided that I can not eat the green veggies in baby food variety. I wasn't hungry I actually couldn't eat the suggested 14.
The cons thus far: I am not a big puree person. I am trying not to think about it. I was never so glad to chomp on a sandwich in my life.

I'll keep you posted.

I pretty much eat what I want but make healthy choices and work out 30-45 minutes 5 times a week. I'm heathy and I model. I'm 30. I just don't understand torturing yourself with starvation.

AND... If you want to take it up a notch and have something to chew on, they DO make toddler diced veggies these days, too. I haven't checked to see if they are AS healthy as baby food, but I'm sure they are still healthier than the adults.

I knew it was only a matter of time. Have you tried baby food these days? When my little girl (now 3) started eating baby food, I wouldn't give anything to her unless I tried it first. I have to say, in my opinion, anything except the meats tasted really good. I especially loved the pumpkin ones, or even the apples and chicken was pretty tasty. I always wondered why it hadn't become a big thing for the health concious to have a big craze over it, but it seems the celebrities beat them to it. lol

Actually, for those on the baby food diet they do contain MSG. Even some organic gerber contains MSG. So, far the only baby food I have found is Earths best that has no MSG

i have crohns disease and cant eat fresh fruits/veggies. And can only have low fiber foods. baby food sounds like a good alternative to getting what I am lacking. Once you cook the food so you can puree it, most of the vitamins/nutrients are gone...babys can tolerate the baby food so I would think crohns/colitis/IBS patients would also be able to handle it. Worth a try anyway, I'm sure it can't hurt.

I have been on this baby food diet for some time, it is alot more healthier, doesnt have all that crap that the "adult" foods have, and very filling. I dont think there is anything wrong with eating it. Its very convienent, and if you get the fruity ones they are delishious! And great portion control! I lost 15 pounds but that is also me craming the gym everyday. The calories on these things are really low. I really do recommend this diet!
