Hot Topics In June
Can I manage to do a roundup every month? We’ll see. But here I am to do one for June, another exciting month at BFD. Seriously, we were really busy!
We had our first major trainwreck, when I posted a picture and Melanie swung by to talk about my fatness. I’m pretty sure that’s the post with the most comments ever on this site; the second busiest post was the follow up (or trainwreck part two, I guess). Controversy!
More debate ensued when we talked about the “weight loss is hard” essay. And yet more debate when people disagreed with my stance on nutrition information. That post has sparked a conversation that’s still continuing, and it’s well worth checking out. Speaking of interesting conversations, on Spidey’s Dilemma, someone came by to tell us we were all butterflies trapped in cocoons of fat, and then came back later in the thread to actually have a civil conversation. Rock.
Pressing questions this month: What about the short people? Is Clive Owen married to a fat chick? Are we totally lame for caring about a comic strip? Do fat people exercise? What’s the deal with fat porn? And should we try that new weight loss drug?
Some people on Salon loved this video discovered by our own Weetabix. AdAge enjoyed this post about the Brazilian yogurt ads. Hello Salon people and Ken Wheaton! Other popular posts this month: the one about the Reebok ads, and a sciency discussion of link between obesity and IQ,
And Kate Winslet is still my girlfriend.

That is freaky, because I’m a Melanie and now I feel awful commenting – should I put a disclaimer like “Melanie but not THAT Melanie”? (For the record, I think you look great in that picture). : )
Back off, Kate Winslet is mine! Wait… lets be civilized about this whole thing. You can have her on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and every other Sunday.
