Unheard Of
I should rename this blog “Kate Winslet Is Awesome” because I never miss an opportunity to point out that she is awesome. The latest is that she has refused to be airbrushed in her new ads for Lancôme.
[She] only accepted the modelling gig if the company promised not to airbrush her for the poster campaign. Anna Winslet, Kate’s older sister, told this week’s First magazine: “Kate and I don’t think men like skinny, pointy, spikey women. She feels women should be allowed to be the natural shape they are without having to conform into some sort of image that is never going to be what their make-up is really about.” Not touching up an image to remove wrinkles or make a model look ‘perfect’ through lengthening legs or adding weight to boobs is virtually unheard of in the cosmetics industry.
The perfume is Lancôme’s Tresor. And no matter what it smells like, I will buy it. Gasoline, moldy cheese, porta potty, I don’t care. Who’s with me?

ME. I’m with you. Kate Winslet was my first girl crush! I have lurved her for a lifetime and she is just fabulous and wonderful and REAL.
that’s great! I used to wear Tresor. It’s strong, but smells really pretty.
sephora, here I come.
Kate Winslet, and Tori Amos are my girl crushes…
That is freaking awesome. Kate Winslet keeps rocking harder and harder. I think I’ll have to buy some Tresor because of her and her awesomeness.
I don’t wear any perfume, but I almost could now…
ADD to boobs? I wish someone would take away from mine…
Tresor:
I bought it in the mid 90’s because I thought the bottle was beautiful.
I did not wear it because I thought it stinky.
I hope you like it more than I did.
:)
I used to wear Tresor too, before I discovered perfume gave me migraines. :( I’m so happy that she’s insisting on being real in the ads.
You’re right: Kate Winslet IS awesome!
Ha! mm, I guess it depends on your body chemistry. I’ve worn it every since I decided it would be good to have a “grownup” perfume in the arsenal. I have yet to be designated stinky (although you’re never safe from being surprised until you’re dead).
I will now go promptly out and buy more.
Vote with those wallets, ladies.
Love me some Kate Winslet! She’s been taking my breath away since the Titanic! She’s amazing and i’m so glad she’s an advocate of being real on all sides. A woman like her is a rare find in Hollyweird these days.
Let’s hope Lancôme is evolving. Looks like Isabella Rossellini went back to working with them (remember how they fired her 10 years ago when she turned 40?!) – on Trésor – last year. Now Kate au naturel. Please please please keep it real, Lancôme. No one wants to buy perfume advertised by airbrushed collagen clowns. Well, I guess some people must. Ugh.
HURRAY for Kate!!!! She has always been one of my faves and she just went up a couple of places on my chart! She’s curvy and beautiful!
I hope Lancomb lets her stand her ground on the airbrushing!!
Can’t think of anything to say other than “You Go Girl!”
“No one wants to buy perfume advertised by airbrushed collagen clowns.”
Apparently her sister thinks men do? I still have issues with this whole “men don’t like skinny chicks” deal because 1) why should it be so important what men think? 2) even though I believe in general that statement is true, and 3) I think the disorders that result in super-skinny bodies have nothing to do with trying to attract anyone, of either sex.
I have loved Kate Winslet for well over 10 years now, and I am so glad that she still hasn’t conformed to stupid Hollywood’s ridiculous and stratospheric ‘beauty’ standards. I love that Lancome wanted her so much that they agreed to her terms for representing Tresor. I love Tresor, it smells orgasmic and ut has been my favorite perfume for over 15 years. Kate being the spokesmodel for it makes me very proud to wear it. Rock on, Kate!!
Kate Winslet’s the best!! Actually she has mentioned before in an interview or something about how she would rather not have her pictures be photoshopped, etc. so that what people see looks like her in real life. I’ve always been like this too. In my school grad photos I never paid extra to have my photos “touched up,” and it was remarkable. My face was blemish-free, and I’m proud because it’s natural.
Tresor! I like that perfume lots. I have to wear it sparingly, though. A little goes a long way, and I still have a ginormous bottle I bought in the Cayman Islands a few years ago.
Good for her.
