I too loved Spock (and got your grok reference, Littlestar!) But with so many fictional characters, there's that disappointment of finding out that no human being (well, or Vulcan) can live up to the imaginary standard. One of the things that's so appealing about Nimoy is that he really does seem to be what he would seem. He didn't (as far as I know) get all hateful when he got famous. He wouldn't roast Shatner on TV. He doesn't share his personal stuff in public. And, now, go figure, he's not only open-minded about what constitutes beauty (despite the fact that he was a beauty in his day and doesn't crack any mirrors even now), but ACTIVE about sharing that perception.
