Sandra Bullock Looks Kind Of Cute, Actually
The Impact Lab photoshopped “a few extra pounds” onto some popular celebrities and asked, what would celebrities look like if they were fat? Celebrities include Elizabeth Hurley, Jennifer Lopez, and Shakira:
“Food can be an evil thing in the wrong hands. Here are a series of obesity-enhanced photos to show you what your favorite celebrity would look like with a few extra pounds. As we are all striving for that perfect weight, just take a few moments to have these images permanently seared in your brain, and food will begin to lose much of its appeal.”
Wow, I kind of don’t know where to begin. First of all, “a few extra pounds” equals to a couple of hundred pounds added to each celebrity. They all look like they’re wearing fat suits, of course—they don’t look like normal curvaceous women. It seems like the point is to make them look as grotesque as possible (at least in Gwyneth Paltrow’s case). Secondly, talk about value judgments—if these celebrities really were obese, it would be “evil”? And third… god, I don’t even know. Go see for yourself.

But they forgot to photoshop the smiles off their faces! They can’t possibly be smiling and fat!
Heh.
That’s right–the title “The Ravages of Food” made me laugh. I thought I’d be looking at some fat zombies eating braaaaaains!
Man, when I read “a few pounds”, I was picturing something like 10-20 pounds extra– like Renee Zellweger’s weight gain for Bridget Jones’s Diary (in which she looked really frigging cute, so there.) Gotta love that the ‘authors’ of this ‘article’ are equating “a few extra pounds” with morbid obesity.
“food will begin to lose much of it’s appeal.”
Somehow, I don’t think that food losing its appeal is a good thing…we kinda need it to live.
Mostly this made me think how twig-like the “before” photos look. I mean, they look good, but VERY skinny. Even Catherine Zeta-Jones, who I don’t usually associate with the stick-arms.
Also, I want that outfit Gwyneth Paltrow is wearing, it’s gorgeous!
WOW so now we are EVIL.. lets see.. I used to be chubby, then I was Chunky, then I was ROUND, then I was Fat, Then I was OBESE .. now I AM EVIL… BITE ME! not evil.. still obese.. thats changing… How on earth these folks associate obesity with food being evil.. geez… what freaks are they.. Hollywood and its shrunken lenses.. ..
I’d like to thank Impact Lab for this insightful piece of investigative journalism. Perhaps, I can clear up some confusion expressed in the comments here: I don’t think it’s food that’s evil. It only becomes evil “in the wrong hands,” which apparently belong to people who aren’t thin.
I always thought I was anti-evil. Little did I know, I was unleashing it on the world every time I had food in my hands. I plan to go cold turkey on food and hope that I am still alive at the point I am thin enough to handle food unevilly.
With a nod to the NRA, here is some food for thought (which is really the only kind of food I trust myself now): food doesn’t kill people, fat people kill people.
I am evil. HEHEHE.
A few pounds? They’re nuts. And it’s not the best photoshop work I’ve seen. Renne Zellweger looks like she has a toothache
The faces are so badly done – not every fat woman gains jowls and chub in the neck and chin.
Sandra Bullock did look cute :D
OMG that looks so unrealistic! except for Sanda Bullock as was already said, and Julia Roberts
“… since we’re all striving for the perfect weight …”
Um, no, we really aren’t. Some of us have other things to do — writing amicus briefs for submission to the Supreme Court defending Roe, cancer research, feeding and parenting our kids and godkids, stuff like that.
Striving for good health, I can dig it. (Optimal, should your schedule permit.)
But since the standard of “perfect weight” tends to shift culturally as well as with time, if that is your behavioral standard, you’re really pursuing an impossible goal.
And even Angelina and Madonna don’t have time for that crap. They’re busy pursuing achievable goals, like more Oscars, more record sales, more adoptions, and their charity work — which I get a creeping feeling Ms. “striving for the perfect weight” just might not have time for in her narrow schedule.
Hey!…Thanks for the nice read, keep up the interesting posts..what a nice Sunday
